South Africa offers some excellent wingshooting whether it is groundbirds over pointing dogs or waterbirds. Not many people know this. My partner John Weavind is one of the pioneers making wingshooting accessible to the overseas market.
We mostly do this in the Northwest, but do waterbirds in Limpopo.
Who else shares this passion for African wingshooting, kindly share your pics and stories.

In the Northwest in 2011, we had some great "driven" Guinea shoots and some good goose hunting for Spurwings and Gypos.

Big fun!

Spurwings and Gypos are great fun. Those Spurwings are tough though!

Spike, I'm sure both!

Piet you are is a good spot right there where you are, I use to live in Magaliesburg and man there was some excellent bird hunting going on at that time.
I think we have to arrange something for us and the kids one day.
Just wait till the Sunflower is ready.

Mike, I would like that, never tested one.

Guys I have a few special birds available next year, numbers are limited:D

Whoa! :eek:o_O
Do they cook up well?:D

Do Guinea fowls stay hidden to be pointed, like a pheasant ? Or do they tend to run away ? Same for francolins?

They fly off, but there are always a few who try and hide by staying down, the dogs point those.

I know the catch may not look exciting but quail shooting over a good pointer is great sport. And cooked in butter and white wine it beats tough spur wing goose!

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
Behind the scenes of taking that perfect picture.....

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris
