Winchester Model 70 “Custom” Super Grade “Express” 458 Win. Mag. N.I.B.

Beautiful 458 WM from the Winchester Custom Shop in New Haven Conn. I purchased it in 1992.

Asking Price: $2,750 plus shipping and insurance.

Please PM, post, or email to discuss. I will consider all reasonable offers.

I have other Model 70’s NIB, most calibers.

BTW,

The tag on the end of the box says the barrel is 22".

The letter from US Repeating Arms says 24".

Do you know which one is accurate?

Good catch on the barrel length, I had never noticed that error now I need to check all my others. I will confirm the correct ang get back to you. Thanks Wclint.

Measuring the action and barrel in the photograph, then comparing the photographed action to a known Win 70 action of same issue determined a ratio of length in photo to actual length. According to my calculation, the barrel is 22". Which isn't surprising because 22" is the length of a similar M70 458 that I had. Being somewhat of a whimp I had the barrel replaced with a 24" with heavier taper.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]
