I find Sako 85 a very temperamental rifle with regards to scope mounts and accuracy/ stock bedding issues .

Winchester M70 is probably one of the best out of the box rifles you can purchase.

To each his own, but my experience is quite different. I find the 85’s that I own extremely accurate. And no complaints with the Opti-lock scope mounts. I understand some folks have some complaints regarding some of the longer action guns with the brass dinging the scope upon ejection. But I have not experienced that complaint. I should add that I am using the low mounts and not the extra low, which might explain why I am not having the problems experienced by others.

They come with a 5 shot MOA guarantee, I've owned a few as habe all my family members that hunt. No one has struggled to get groups under an inch.

I agree with the earlier post that both are excellent rifles. IMHO when you are talking 416 Caliber you are talking about the possibility of hunting DG. With that in mind I'd take the Winchester because it is a CRF over the Sako which is not.

Sako is a “sort of”controlled feed.

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ
