Hi I have this Winchester Caliber 458 in bolt action at my place in Lisbon, it was bought a long time ago and it is in marvelous condition, how much should I ask for it, is 8 thousand euros too high of a price, I don't think so.I hope a good hunter needs a beauty like this!

I dont know the European market.. but 8000 euros is way too high for the American market..

You can find Winchester 70 Super Express in 458 Win Mag in good condition in the US fairly routinely for anywhere from $1500-$2500.

Win 70 Super Grades in 458 Win Mag like the one in your picture will go for anywhere between $1000-$3000 depending on if it is a CRF or a push feed gun, the guns condition, etc..

Even a Pre-64 Model 70 Super Grade (highly desirable), custom in 458 Win Mag is substantially cheaper than 8000 euros.. this one is $4500

A little hard to tell the era this rifle is from based on the pics, but the hole in the bolt handle, rear sight and forend checkering pattern look pre 64. So, def a valuable rifle. I do see some dealers in the us trying to get 8-10k for these, but have no idea if the sell or not.

In 2 days time i shall check that Bolt and take more pics, I thought It was bought in Lisbon, Portugal like in 1975, but do not know when the rifle was made and then exported from the US

...The last pre-64 .458WM I sold (2018) was purchased for $8500. The rifle was 98% O/A and had the original sling. The .458WM is the third rarest caliber of pre-64 rifles. Total number: 1226 out of a total of 581,471.

That is in fact a pre-64, Its a nice rifle, what they actually bring to anyone other than a collector is a big question. But there probably are guys out there that will spend 8ish on it. The hassle of getting it to the US after purchase for that amount, don't know.

I cant wait till tomorow to write here the rifle Number!!!!

Well, that went from 1500 to 8000 really quick :D

...FWIW, serial number range of Model 70 receivers: March 1, 1957, 399,865. April 4, 1957, 403,080.

I would say that the baseline price would be 8K and perhaps up to 10 K.
Maybe in the US. I'm not convinced the demand for pre-64 Winchesters is very high in the EU.

As far as the link to the gun broker auction, that is not a factory rifle. I know it’s a manufacture date in the 1940s, and the 458 was introduced until 1956. That’s a custom gun. Whatever value it has nothing to do with this Rifle. Given that the cartridge was not introduced until 1956, and that this is a first year rifle in great shape, or at most second year, it’s pretty darn valuable.

Could will be true about the European market. I have no idea how things are there.

I would suggest that you look into the particulars of having it shipped to the USA, given the comments about the European market. There are dealers/shippers who can help with that, although I cannot give you any names. If you have those details arranged and advertise it for sale here in the US, it would probably grease the wheels for someone in this country to go ahead and make the purchase.

Europe is really small, compared to the US (I believe):-) Portugal is like a small town in the US hahaha

Hello, My wife and I hunted with Marius 2 years ago. He fit us into his schedule after a different outfitter "bailed" on us. He was always very good with communications and although we didn't end up meeting him personally, he called us multiple times during our hunt to make sure things were going well. We were very happy with him.

Reach out to the guys at Epic Outdoors.

They will steer you right for landowner tags and outfitters that have them.

I have held a membership with them for years and they are an invaluable resource.

Way better that asking random people on the internet...WAY better

Skydiver386,

Did you ever find your 30-06 CZ550? I own a fairly solid conditioned one, if you wanted to talk.
