Why doesn't the .500 Jeffery get the love of that the .505 Gibbs does on this forum?

I think there is only one rifle of this caliber worldwide.

The rifle was built by Ziegenhahn in Zella-Mehlis. But as I said , the dimensions of the cartridge are only approximate.

The owner Mr. Ziegenhahn still has the reamers and head space dies as well as re loading reamers(y)(y) He indicated he could ream the chamber and make the action feed if I would like to buy a barreled action from him..as pointed out our South African rand currency is just to weak to make such a investment in this caliber possible..I would have then be the second owner in the world of such a rifle...:LOL::LOL:

I was looking for an original rifle of this caliber , but collectors told me that such a rifle is not known and has never appeared at any auction.

Nobody , not even Herr Ziegenhahn , are sure that the dimensions of this new created cartridge match the original.

In spite of everything , I was always very interested in this cartridge.

We wondered , because the size of the cartridge 404 Magnum Schüler is so similar to that of the larger Weatherby cartridges , whether that is perhaps not a coincidence.

Suhl in Thüringen was first occupied by american troops before it was taken over by the russian troops. Who knows whether reamers ended up in the hands of Roy Weatherby via this route !:)

It definitely is not a coincidence according to me..(y) What was the largest caliber known to the American rifle owner/hunter /builder in that time during the war???

404 Jeffery , 404 Magnum Schüler , 416 WBY Magnum

The Schüler cartridge made with a 416 WBY brass after removing the belt. Interesting cartridge caliber 423.

:LOL::LOL: Thought so(y)(y) To the victor goes the spoils:LOL:...or the blue prints(y)

Do you know the history about the Ultra Magnum caliber design???? Canada and Mike White????

Hasn't the standard load for the .500 Jeffery always been a 535 grain bullet at 2350 fps?

According to other sources, the bench mark from the double rifles history was 400 gn bullet at 2100f/s was enough to kill any dangerous game animal????

All real .500 Jeffery owners loves their rifles...since they used/handled them a lot , learn the best technique to shoot it..I noticed a few 500 Jeffery rifles came up for sale here in South Africa...I suspect a possibility of feeding /cycling difficulties...Colorado, how fast can you cycle your 3 rounds through the magazine and chamber???

Under 2 seconds. If shooting offhand I can get 3 shots in the black at 25 yards in 4 seconds. As I worked through the feeding problems I had initially with the rifle. I cycle it 100 times with a dummy round (which is harder on extraction than an empty fired case), slowly, rapidly, upside down, etc. Until I could do that four times, I wasn't satisfied. It is flawless now. It was worked on by Harlan Satrang (who built it), Wayne at AHR and Kevin Weaver. Took some work, more time than money, but it's awesome.

Many first time dangerous game hunters buy rifles in the Dangerous game caliber range from rifle shops, but nobody told them that you have to work on the action to get it to dangerous game hunting rifle capabilities like cycling dummies/live rounds(safety in mind) at fast speeds, working the bolt hard and fast, ejecting the round with speed without any jamming , few rifles is dangerous game hunting ready when you buy it from the shelves...
