Why Buy A Blaser K95?

Great rifles. I ordered my K95 Ultimate this past May and just received it a few weeks ago. The two barrels I ordered are in .308 Win and .222 Rem. It’s such a joy to hunt with this rifle.

Ah wish I could, but it was as far from a regrettable purchase as I could get, I absolutely love it.
So light, handy, classy and damn accurate especially from the shoulder in a snap shot situation as it just shoulder's and points like good shotgun.

It is a terrible ad. Which is great for the perspective buyer. Inside the case shows what looks like a S&B scope with the mount.
I'm so glad you mentioned that. I went to the ad and took a close look at everything...called the Cabelas Gun Library and they confirmed that it is a S&B scope with the Blaser factory mount...and oh by the way, 10% off used guns today. Huh...so it's coming here.

Does anyone know where to find barrels for the S2?
The Blaser S2 is out of production. You will only find used or new old stock barrels. I've seen them on GB as well as GI.

What would be considered a decent price on an S2 barrel if I could find one? Thanks!
What would you expect to pay for a pre-1964 Winchester Model 70? It varies with how good the wood is, how much it's been shot, how well it's been taken care of and let's not forget what you are willing to pay. Some people are willing to pay much more for the same thing than someone else. The price will be as high as the market will bear unless you fall backwards into a great deal.

The S2 barrel is no different than any other rifle part. It depends on a lot of factors. Time for you to get out there and look. Because finding a smoking deal on a S2 or pre-64 M70 isn't going to happen.

Blaser K95 is definitely a very elegant gun. Is a gun for the ones who experienced most of the hunting situations and now they want to become more selective, want to proof their knowledge. Is a gun for the ones who are practising in the shooting range, and they are confident in their abilities of shooting. I see them only in wood finish.
A owner of a Blaser K95 must be accompanied with nice equipment, everything is going to be top class.
In Europe Is the best gun for any individual hunt: roebuck, mouflon, fallow stag, red stag from the high seat, and wild boar. Is the most preferred gun for mountains hunters because is light and easy to carry. In most of those situation you need a single shot.

What calibers are most popular in Europe for the mountain hunts? I was thinking about the next barrel to order for my K95. I have 308 and 22 Hornet so far.

From what I saw 7mm rem magnum is very popular.

I would choose .243 win for roebuck and maybe .270 win for other game.

For the K95 I would say that the 7x65R would be the most popular choice, at least among the rimmed cartridges.

If I were to build a new kipplauf I would choose either 6,5x57R or 7x65R, currently thinking about reboring/rebarelling my current kipplauf in 5,6x57R to either of those.

I’m not sure what’s most readily available where you plan on hunting, but rimmed cartridges are preferred in Kipplauf. Although I see you buck the trend with 308WIN.

If it were me, 7x65R for lower recoil than the 7RM, but there is still considerable overlap with the 308 you already have. Maybe 6.5x57R, 6.5x55 or (forgive me) 6.5CM would fill the gap between your current barrels.

There is also the .30 R Blaser which is a faster alternative to the 7x65R if one wants the extra safety of a rimmed cartridge. It is more like the .300 Winchester Magnum but with a rim.

I didn’t pick the 308 but it came with the used purchase and is an octagon. I would love to trade it for a different octagon barrel.

I like the looks of the octagon barrel, but would prefer the lighter weight of the round on a Kipplauf to keep it with its intended purpose…lightweight mountain rifle.

Is the forend a different shape? Would the round barrel leave big gaps?

I think it looks good. Here's the round barrel 22 hornet on it...
