Why are Weatherby guns in 375+ calibers not liked on a Safari?

...but, I really like the Weatherby stock design, it's quick, it comes to target easily and accurately, and it seems to me to handle recoil as well or better than other rifles I've shot. I've never suffered a Weatherby eyebrow, but have known those who did. The most uncomfortable stock I've run into is the Ruger No. 1.
Ruger No. 1's need a straighter stock. Even a gunsmith said that. I mount scopes WELL FORWARD with heavy recoiling rifles. Been shooting Weatherbys for 50 years. Never got a Weatherby Brow.

Thank you for the benefit of the doubt, but I didn't know that at all.

This makes me wonder to what extent when he had a small shop in Hollywood (?) whether he may have custom fit stocks for his wealthier clients. At some point the stuff starts coming from Japan, and that would be out the window.
The Japanese Weatherby's are superior to the Germans. The Jap guns have an all steel trigger, reinforced stock with epoxied steel cross bolts, 4 1/2" 1/4" bolt through the wrist, pistol grip. The Jap stocks are a nicer grade of wood.

Hello.

My friend did return from a SA Safari and told me that the PH in the camp told him that they did not like Weatherby guns for dangerous game.
They do not work good.
Really? Is that so?
I have two MkV in 300 and one in 340, they work great.
Has these something to do with the recoil level being high on the Weatherby calibers, compared to a say 375 H&H or 458 WM? Meaning the hunter is not able to handle the recoil?
Or, is it that the guns do not have controlled round feeing as a M98 and others?
People don't shoot them well.
Yeah, like ONLY 15.5" ? ...because people are afraid of the Weatherby kiss? :) Yes, length of pull to short. I need 13 3/4 to 13 7/8.Thats why the scope hits them. Their eye is to close to the scope.

The Mark V rifle caliber 300 Weatherby Magnum was offered in both barrel lengths 24" or 26". I just looked at an old catalog. Thin conical barrels were the standard by most serial rifles back then in the sixties. I am a fan of the cartridges from Roy Weatherby, but not his rifles. Despite it, I would also leave the rifle as it is. This rifles are collector's items. Better to sell it and to buy something else of the same caliber.
The Mark 5 action is massive and heavy. He had to put thin barrels on them to keep them with in the standard weight of 7 1/2 to 3/4 lb's. He wanted an action big enough, strong enough to chamber the 460 Weatherby Magnum.

Btw, chronograph velocity out of a 24 inch barrel is 3150fps. A 100 fps less than the 26inch barrel. The game won't know the difference, but l noticed the weight of the heavier barrel. I don't own a 26" barrel on a Weatherby.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
