Who is shooting their Ruger Hawkeye African .280 Ackley?

I bought this one 3 weeks ago. I think he still has some available. Hope to shoot it this weekend. will let you know how it does out of the box.

Same seller I bought from. Don’t know how many he had but he’s had one for sale continuously since last October.

I thought some here had these rifles. I was curious about them as I read an article extolling the virtues of the round with the usual hyperbole, "almost as good as the 7 Rem mag, less powder, less recoil", etc.
Far as I can see it is very little more capable than the .280 Remington.

I have only a hawkeye.375 Ruger built in 08 I believe. It shoots fantastic, no complaints. Only other ruger I ever owned was a mk77 .458 that threw the bottom out every time I pulled the trigger. Fixed that with a stronger spring in the floor plate latch.

Just revisiting an older thread but I did finally refinish my .280ai African stock….much improved in my opinion…..

And the only one currently available on Gun Broker is listed at $3200.

No doubt. I’m going to ask for a new follower, mag box and spring before that but suspect you’re correct.…you Know what they say, if it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.

it’s a bit of a running joke in my family that I have has appliance karma. They could make 100,000 washing machines and if there is one bad I’m going to get it.

Apparently my bad appliance karma now extends to firearms.

I've only had one bad experience sending stuff back to the factory and that was an ar15 barrel that went back 3 times. The third time I asked for a refund and they sent a check, so it wasn't ever bad since they gave me shipping labels to return it everytime. The guns and uppers I've sent in all ran perfect when they came back.

I will say he is a good seller on gun broker… Ive bought several rifles from him, but never taken advantage of the “free Safari “.

He usually has a large inventory of a particular rifle, for example, I just purchased a Ruger Hawkeye African in 375 flwith the benefit of being able to look through 12 or 15 of them in inventory on line and pick the one with the best wood

I believe this one will look really nice once it is stripped and done in an oil finish
