Who is going where this year?

June 1st. I'll be in New Zealand, Timaru to be exact, hunting with New Zealand Safaris for Red stag and Tahr with my son. My wife, my oldest daughter and her husband are going along just to see what New Zealand is all about. Although just the other day my daughter asked me what the chances are of her being able to shoot something too. I knew she couldn't go along just as an observer, never has and probably never will.

I will be finishing my trophy room and paying the taxidermist off from my last safari. In the meantime I am booked for elk in CO and bears in Quebec again. Africa definitely in 2016.

Forgot to mention that my son, son in law and I will be heading to Cape Cod the last week of Jan. to do some duck and eider hunting. Then Oct. 1st. will find us back in Kaycee, WY chasing mule deer and antelope, our favorite DIY hunt.

Heading to Northwest SA to hunt lioness, elephant and plains game with Africa Maximum Safaris in July. As all of you who have hunted Africa know I think about the last trip and the upcoming trip multiple times a day!

The plane ticket is purchased.
Not all settled yet as to all locations of hunting and fishing.
I have a week that came open inside the schedule due to an unfortunate circumstance.
So, the search is on. I may just leave it open and see what comes up at the time.

So far: Driving from Joburg.
Springbok in NC.

Trout, Bass, maybe some blue water fishing.

Bushbuck are high on the list.
Trophy Egyptian Goose with Marius and we'll also see what else jumps out.

I hope to share a fire and a story with a few AH Members in the EC.
We'll see who is not busy hunting.

Into the mountains with a bow to chase Vaal Rhebuck.

Then, we'll see where I end up..

a vaalie with a bow ,stepping up to the plate there , fella,
nothing g like a challenge , hey.........

Do you know who your PH is? The bull in my avatar was taken with Chifuti last August. You are in for the hunt of a lifetime!!!! I will be glad to talk to you if you'd like.

Welcome to AH!
Yes, thanks. I would be very interested in hearing about your experience with Chifuti. They have me tentatively scheduled with Keith.
Did you hunt in Nuanetsi?

Going to see Loodt and the pink brigade in May! This will be a combination safari for me and tourist stuff for the wife. Kudu and bushbuck will be the "primary" targets, but I'm honestly looking forward to some of the little guys like steenbok. I'm a big believer in opportunity too, so we will see what happens.

May as well for Kathy and I, also with Loodt's outfit. In fact, we overlap several days with Royal and Nancy.

I am hunting whatever critters are dumb enough and slow enough for me to catch up with!

Tim

I have thought this would be fun. Take a trip and just drive between outfitters/AH members throughout southern Africa. Share a campfire for a day or two and maybe shoot a few birds or an animal or two. Scheduling time between their booked hunts might be difficult. A great way to put a name with a face. Will certainly look forward to hearing how your trip goes.

Vaalie with a bow. I am impressed. It sounds almost as difficult as shooting a quagga! Could this be the most difficult hunt in Africa? It will be great to hear how it works out.

All the best.

I hunted up north at Chewore, but Richie and I talked about Nuanetsi quite a bit. I'd like to hunt leopard there and I understand that the PG there is amazing....

I don't know Keith, but I'm sure you'll be in great hands.

Heading to Hartzview with my son. This will be the first time he has hunted in Africa. I will be the proud dad acting primarily as observer. This will be my best African hunt because of my hunting companion, even if I don't fire a shot.(y)

I will hunt in Botswana with Bos en Dal. Gerrit and I will be headed to the Tuli Triangle. We will see what presents itself.;)

Certainly looking forward to spending time with Ockert and Gerrit! We will have a blast. :A Me You:

Flights are reserved for 10 days end of August with my wife and some friends with family too.
Outfitter is my old friend Gerhardus Steenekamp. PH´s himself, Eksteen Prinsloo, maybe some of the other guys, depending on the final number of hunters.

Still planning the details, but could be a combination of KwaZulu/Natal and Limpopo.

On the list is Reedbuck, Lechwe, Tsessebe, and the always elusive Hyena and Baboon. I will of course shoot any nice Warthog which crosses my path, same goes for jackal. There is also a possibility for Hippo, if we get a nice offer.

... exactly. I will make sure I can reach out a bit for distance.
I'm also going to order a local Ghillie suit. At least the top for stalking.
No blinds or water (not that water is a great attractant to them)
We may have a few more tricks up our sleeves to even the odds.

I am working really hard to make sure my drawing elbow will be in tip top shape.
Recovery requires rest and patience. This will be tough.

Proximity of many in EC will make this a little easier.

We'll see how impressed we all are after we get it done.... or at least enjoy the challenge in the trying.
I am pretty sure the difficulty rating for spot and stalk is pretty high up on the rating scale.
It was tough enough with the rifle.
I figure with enough time I should be able to give this a real effort.
Like Engee said, he does not know of anyone who has managed it by spot and stalk.

I'll certainly share the stories. :)

My buddy and I are hunting plains game in Limpopo with Kuvhima Safaris the beginning of June for 10 days.

Well if you get it done, the legend will continue,,,and perhaps even beyond your own mind! LOL

Seriously, that would rank right up there.

Best of luck with the endeavor. I hope you attain the goal.

It's good to have friends with a sense of humour.

A buddy thought this Vaalie challenge up.
I am just a willing victim of my own gullibility.

brickburm good luck with that bow hunt.We had luck with pink camo the animals just feel safe. Not sure if they make a pink ghillie suits though.I have never want to hunt some of the game guys are going for but each trip has me wanting more and more of the special animals you dont see ever day when there.

Good Morning x84958
I have read your post about Jamy Traut and your hunt in Caprivi. I am planning such a hunt for 2026, Oct with Jamy.
Just a question , because I will combine Caprivi and Panorama for PG, is the daily rate the same the week long, I mean the one for Caprivi or when in Panorama it will be a PG rate ?
thank you and congrats for your story.
Best regards
Philippe from France
