Picked these up today for the collection

That's a solid line up, congrats!

I haven't seen the Peat Monster at a store in Australia (well, not in my neck of the woods just yet) but have heard that it is a lovely drop for the peat-heads, even though a blend and not from Islay (that I know of).

Have you had the opportunity to compare this with the other classic Islay peat "monsters" i.e. Ardbeg 10, Laphroaig 10 & CS and the Port Charlotte 10?

I love the smoky single malts and anything that plays into this spectrum is my jam; other (out of the box) suggestions are very much appreciated.
@Michael70 it is very close to Talisker 10 but more Peaty and very smooth not so smokey but having had a 16 year Glenmorangie in camp last week with another friend I defintely would take the Peat Monster anytime over the Glenmorangie for my taste buds.
I also hade a 12 year old Bowmore there and that was also better to my liking than the Glenmorangie.

The friend who brought along the Glenmorangie is sure to be shopping for Peat Monster after this weekend just saying !!!

Very close to Talisker 10 is high praise indeed.

The smoke is in the background and not smack you in the face like the Laphroaig or Ardbeg but gentle and rounded (in my opinion). Sometimes you like them feisty other times gentle, depending on the mood.

The Peat Monster is definitely on the buy list.

Looking for a good sherried, peaty, single malt. I have the PC10 and looking for a Bunnahabhain 12, which I hear fits the bill nicely.

A family friend bought me a bottle if Bunnahabhain 18 about 10 years back, and I still remember how good it was.

I am sure the 12 will be a good dram. Definitely a smoother/richer line than some of the other peat monsters, but still smokey.

Tried its cousin from the Compass Box range called Glasgow Blend, not too peaty, a little smoky but all round a great tasting whisky

Had friends over for an evening and cracked a few bottles open. The New Riff were outstanding, especially the High Note Rye. If you find either bourbon or Rye at a reasonable price point for you, buy them. Jack Daniels 14 is a standout bourbon. I think I huge difference between the 14 and 12 year, defintily for me. The ryes were tied between Sazerac 18 and New Riff High Note. Other bottles involved were JD 12 yo, Michter's Bourbon and Rye 10 yo and Michter's Barrel Strength Rye. Old bottle of Jack Daniels spring water included for interest.

I hadn’t heard of the High Note. I’ve just had regular New Riff.

I guess I will also have to stalk the stores in town for the new Heaven Hill release. I like their selection.

I think it's worth looking for the High Note. My bud who brought those said he was lucky to get them from the distillery. I've not seen them in the wild.

Looking for a reasonable daily sipper that won't break the bank and can be used in a mixer if the need arose. Scottish single malts preferred, current candidates are:
  • Glen Moray
  • Tamnavullin
  • Aberfeldy
  • Tomatin
  • Smokehead Peat
  • Monkey Shoulder (blend, but pretty good)
Any others to consider?

It’s a blended and has lost favor but it used to be favorite. It was my father’s favorite and it’s mine for Scotch…
Cutty Sark!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
