Which rifle would you use

I’m outvoted here but I would suggest the ruger. Just a preference here.

i heard from a guy whose cousin of a friend who once went buff hunting saw the 375's bounce off buff??
;)

450/400 though would get my vote except i'm not a fan of single shots...

don't you just love these kinds of helpful posts??? :D

Head shot I take it??

lwaters, Quick questions...

Do YOU see an advantage to either rifle in their handling (weight/length/shootability)?
Are you using QD scope mounts on both rifles?
Each rifle accuracy?
How long does it take to shoot 3 rounds?
What is the opinion of you PH?

Answer these, and you will closer to making your rifle decision.
My opinion will matter very little when you are the one in the field.
Use what will work best for YOU.

I’d use the one I could get the most lead down range the quickest. For me, that’d be the .375.

Wrong approach, make your first shot count instead of having lead in the air and hoping that will make up for bad initial shot placement.

Did I say anything about not taking a good shot? For a rifle to even be in the conversation he has to be comfortable making the right shot with it, but this is the real world. Shit happens and 3 > 1. Making a good and responsible first shot as a hunter should go without being stated.

In which case you would not need the 3 > 1.

I will follow the ph advice on which to use. I am leaning towards 450/400 . When I hunted buffalo last summer a woman shot one with a 44 mag pistol. I sure rather use my 450/400. I am. practicing with the second round and you can get it of fairly quickly but not as fast as a bolt rifle. I do have quick detachable rings on the 375. The number 1 has the ruger rings. They can be removed easily with a screw driver and it stays zeroed like the Warne rings.

No1 all the way

By carrying extra bullets in a special cartridge holder on or close to your right shoulder(if you are right handed), you can load it faster than a bolt gun. The Zimbabwe proficiency test is held by a single shot Ruger nr. 1 in caliber 416 Rigby.

First shot counts the most and will be more effective in 450/400 NE than in 375 H&H.

When using using a scope that starts at 1 power you will not need to take it off and can shoot it with both eyes open.

Never thought off having the cartridges near my shoulder. I bet that is better. I would like to see one. Could have my wife sew some bullet loops on a vest and safari jacket.

Try it and practice a few times you will be amazed at how good it works.

If memory serves me well Robert Redford has a similar arrangement on his vest in out of Africa

Seen this type on internet. Made one out of black elastic that I used on wrist. Wife going to make one out of two inch elastic with Velcro. This seems to be really fast. Wonder if one cartridge would be better than two. Can also see on coats and vest.

Nevermind, scope base does that.

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

Hello. If you haven't already sold this rifle then I will purchase. Please advise. Thank you.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
