Which rifle do we crown as the best looking ever?

This is my dream rifle! A Westley Richards rifle chambered in .425 Westley Richards, a truly classic cardridge. don't know why we don't see many .425 WR anymore these days, but they seemed to be quite popular back in the day.View attachment 393117View attachment 393118View attachment 393119View attachment 393120View attachment 393121View attachment 393122View attachment 393123
+1. I really love the first few pics. IIRC the bottom rifle was featured in an Explora article and was built for a customer who wanted the “nicest” 425 WR Magazine Rifle they had made or something like that. It’s a touch overdone for my taste.

Cant find photos of my Jeffrey 9.3x74r double which I had to sell..my all time favourite....but I did like my rigby 470 that I had built...engraving was the classic rigby scroll ,....but sold when having brain fart and it was idling in neutral....

Gorgeous rifle but such an ugly magazine. If you need more than 2 shots you need to get a bigger gun or practice shooting more.

My vote for best looking?.... Rigby Stalker. I guess in standard 7x57, 7mm Mauser.... errrah 275 Rigby! Why not. Base model. Minimal wood figure with proper grain flowing down through the grip area for strength. Simple Caliber, Rigby/London metal markings. But at a starting price of about USD 10,000+, I'll have to be satisfied with only being able to admire the clean, classic lines. :)

Here's my vote, just an off the shelf Krieghoff but I like it! It's my favourite mostly because this one is sitting in my rack now and I haven't had a chance to actually use it yet, so I just pet it and talk to it.. ;-)

'Easier to simply agree with every gun posted above, excepting the uglier-than-sin Blaser and that camo AR-ish thing!

:) Since I don't have one I'll just cut and paste this Highland Stalker right off the Rigby site. What's not to like about this rifle!View attachment 393319

I certainly like mine. I do think for pure sex appeal it’s hard to beat a trim little Dakota Model 10 in .275 Rigby.

If the forend was approx. 1" shorter and the barrel a classic 24," it would be unexceptionable. 22" barrel makes it very Continental. Nothing wrong with that per se, but not those absolutely-perfect WDM Bell proportions. Like a beautiful woman with her shoulders a bit too wide for her hips. ;-)

For some reason that pic does make it look very stubby.

Very plain wood but what great lines with the 26" barrel.

Here is the article to go with the pics:

Can you please tell me the overall length of the stock and LOP?

Thanks

Sorry - that rifle is not mine (I mentioned in the earlier post). I will send the owner an email and see if he wouldn't mind getting those measurements.

@baxterb That would be great thanks. I have a sporterized Chileno Mauser that needs the stock cut down and reshaped a little so I would like to know what an original Rigby actually measures.

Yeah I didn't see that other post. My eyes wandered to all the porn in this thread.

if the stock design from the trigger back was up to the standard of the wood, then a lovely rifle.
bruce.
Bruce, I have been having this discussion with Reto about the rifle he is building for me... I want a slightly higher, straighter comb than his standard style butt stock has. He has agreed to vary from the norm. I gave him my best blank - an old piece of French walnut that I have been hoarding for 35 years. He gets ONE shot at it, and I think it will come out well.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
