Which favorite musicians have you met in person?

I knew all of the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd except Ronnie Van Zant, I was too young. I grew up around them and many other bands including Molly Hatchet and 38 Special. I only liked Banner Thomas from Hatchet and Jeff Carlisi from 38 Special is still a good friend of mine. My best friend in the music business is a guy named Bobby Caldwell, he was drummer of Captain Beyond and Johnny Winter, And. He wrote some really killer songs like “Dancing Madly Backwards” and “Raging River of Fear” which were hugely influential on later rock bands like Van Halen and Metallica. I know tons of others too but those are the ones I knew best.

I worked in a country concert hall / night club in Atlanta area in late 90's, got to have a few drinks with waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Toby Keith and dale earnhardt, all at same table in vip room. Plus a variety of others, had the privilege of bailing out David Allan Coe for evasion of child support as well. Good times

Haven’t met many singers. I worked security for Craig Morgan about 15 years ago at a local, county fair. Got to drink beer with Jason Aldean, and some of his crew at a small bar in my hometown. They came over to hunt deer during the rut. It was probably 10 years ago. Good times.

Most musicians are annoying. Aldean seemed fairly normal.

I've met a few here and there but am personal friends with the Los Lonely Boys. My youngest son grew up with Henry and Ringo's boys in school and sports. Friends as in I've been to their home and they have been to mine type of deal! Good guys.

Before he hit the big time, Jim Croce, where he worked operating a bulldozer at Sweeney's dump off of Dutton Mill rd. in southeast Delaware county. This was back in the '60s. There was some nasty chemicals dumped there and IIRC became a superfund site.
Looked it up as i'm in the cleanup business and have worked on other sites nearby... Dutton Mill Properties/Sweeney Landfill, 308 Dutton Mill Road, Middletown Township, Delaware County. Paul Martino, Pennoni Associates, Inc., 1900 Market Street, Suite 300, Philadelphia, PA 19103 on behalf of Herbert T. Sweeney III, Dutton Mill Properties, 308 Dutton Mill Road, Middletown Township, PA 19015 submitted a Cleanup Plan/Remedial Investigation Report concerning the remediation of site soil contaminated with organics, metals and PAHs. The Report was disapproved by the Department on August 1, 2018.

'Had an industrial jobsite on the W. side of 95 in Jax years back. The crew and I would frequent the Freebird Cafe owned by Ronnie's Widow, and the Artimus Pyle Band (APB) would play there often! :)

Judy and Melody sold that in 2016. It was a great local venue for sure! I have many great memories there and I played on stage there a few times myself.

I was sitting next to a lady and I was trying on a pair of boots at Academy. Saw a few people getting excited and told the wife, I think that’s Garth Brooks they are talking to.

Afterwards he came towards us and I said hello. He introduced himself to me, and Mrs. Trisha Yearwood, whom I was sitting next to and trying on boots.

I met Ted Nugent and Michael Cartellone after a Damn Yankees show in Maryland in 1990 or so. I got backstage passes from the old World Bowhunters club Ted had. Ted was swamped but nice. I chatted with Michael for about half an hour since no one really cared (drummer).

I also met guitar maker Paul Reed Smith there too. My brother said I was more excited to meet him than Ted, which may have been true as I had just gotten one of his Custom 24 models. Super nice guy.

I was in a band with the harmonica player from the Swedish band Ramblin’ Minds. Mike was an exchange student when we were in high school and we played a lot of good blues. He was/is flat-out amazing. I also hung out with the rest of the band and comedian Ronnie Erickson who they did some albums with. Lots of fun.

For a guy who grew up on music I’m surprised this list is so short!!!

ZZ Top after a concert , Alice Cooper at the Calgary airport looked around and there he was, had a nice chat. Bret Micheals, Emerson Drive and others ar different festivals

In 1990 my brother won a contest to go to Toronto and be a guest host on the MuchMusic TV station alongside the regular host AND the singer from my favourite band….Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. I sent a bunch of my IM swag and he got it autographed for me and I still have the VHS tape that I recorded the show on somewhere. I still get excited when I remember Bruce saying my last name and the name of my little hometown on national TV!
Not nearly as exciting but I did get to meet the guys from Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

several over the years but standout for me was Merle Haggard. My buddy and i had recently been discharged from the Marine Corps after four years and my buddys brother and girlfriend took us to see Merle at the Hang em High Saloon in Austin. After the show we went to Merle’s bus thanks to an invite my buddys brother had finagled somehow. Merle spoke w my buddy and I, how his brother had served in the Marines, etc. He was very down to earth and nice. He gave us some autographs, still have it too. great memory

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
