What's your one favorite caliber?

Sounds like you’ve built your own lil wildcat version of something very similar to a 257wby. That was my 2nd choice I just couldn’t bring myself to give up DG Game Hunting. I love my quarter bores, and really love that lil Weatherby Mag I have. It hits way above its weight class, it’s a point and shoot gun well past 400 yards with my handloaded 100gr TTSX leaving the muzzle at 3805 fps. I personally think I could kill all the Dangerous 7 without any issue IF I only took specific shots. It’s the first gun I reach for when I’m going hunting (aside from Africa) and I affectionately refer to it as the Hammer of Thor.

Again 275 Rigby/7x57, 280AI, 308, and 300WM also all get honorable mentions.

I do love my 25s they are amazing. Would love a little 25-20 in a strong single shot. The ultimate would be an original Sako that came out in that calibre but the price would be astounding.
Where my 25 finishes my 35 takes over.
Unfortunately my finances will never allow me to hunt DG. Even if they did I would still use the Whelen. The 350 Rigby magnum did it all including elephant back in the day so the Whelen should.

True! My .257 STW is a CLOSE second to the .300 Jarrett.

I would have to flip a coin between my 30-06 and 300H&H, but it would most likely be the 30-06.
My "other" favorite is the 30-06 as well. Created in the likeness of the 7x57 after us facing it in battle it same as the 7x57 has spawned many successful cartridges but still stands on its merits.

These two cartridges make up my sole North American and African non dangerous game battery. I have sent all my magnums packing down the road as of late

.375 for Africa. .300 for North America and pretty mush the ROW.

As a twist on the what's your 3 favorite calibers thread I figured I would ask what is your number one can't live without favorite caliber?

It doesn't have to be chosen based on the question of what particular species you are hunting but rather but what's the one caliber you own or want to own just because?

For me, my all-time favorite caliber that will serve me for 95+% of the hunting I will ever do is the 7x57/275 Rigby. It's got history and class and its pretty damned versatile and useful across a wide range of game animals across the globe.

I have owned and currently own calibers that are faster flatter harder hitting etc. but they just aren't as fun to shoot, and honesty seem unnecessary and don't excite me like the old 7x57 Mauser does. I have several rifles in this caliber and more seem to show up periodically like stray cats. So, what says you, what's your all time favorite pick?

I read an older thread that mentioned you having some 9.3x64 brass. Do you still have some? I am looking for 100 pcs, maybe 200.
