What's the most damage I could do in South Africa for $20,000 Canadian?

@Northern Shooter
Check this out:
And I have many photos and references ready to back up my offers!

I am happy to swap medium & small species with only Large Species. Taxidermy (complete services) I am comfortable to also quote you that.... Here are some PG Special Offers for 2025, on which we can swap species and re-adjust pricing where needed....

at Game 4 Africa in the eastern cape yo can do a bull buffalo with 7 days for around 10,000 US. Their plains game are affordable and you could add kudu, impala, warthog, duiker and a couple of more with the other 4,000
They are a sponsor here.
This is a good recommendation, when I hunted with Game 4 Africa, 2023, they had a buffalo, kudu and impala package for 10,000.00. I added extra animals, had a wonderful hunt!

Hello Northern Shooter, we can accommodate you on such a hunt. I will send a DM to you now.

Good Day Sir.

In my opinion with your budget I would do the Spiral Slam hunt. Or something similar to that.
Only $6950 with Game 4 Africa. You will get to experience 2 different camps and you will see a lot of the Eastern Cape. You will have enough funds to add a few critters, flights and taxidermy.
If you would like to swop out one of the animals for a Buffalo cow we can do that and discuss further.

See below Spiral horn package.
This is valid for 2026 at this price.

4 Animals Included: 7 days, 8 nights Lodging.

X1 East Cape Kudu

Choose X1 of the following:
Cape Bushbuck OR Burchell Zebra Or Black Wildebeest

Choose X1 of the following:
Nyala OR Waterbuck

Choose X1 of the following:

Good advice. Going to start a spreadsheet now with my desired species and compare the pricing from a handful of outfits.

Already thinking about Safari #2.
It helps to cut through the BS and get to the real bottom $.

Any first timer hunt to Africa offers a handful of plains animals for low prices and you can have a blast all week! Beware though, hunting Africa is like opening a bag of potato chips when you have the munchies; you can't eat just one!

I did not respond on buff. In RSA, I really do not know about the cost of buff. You could do one, but will have to cut somewhere else.
I suggest you go and shoot plainsgame until you run out of money, then save up and go to Zim for a wild buff hunt.

Also, Namibia is a super option for plains game - ranchs are bigger and you will see a lot of wide open country.

I went to RSA for my first hunt and have since been on 16 more with two to Namibia. Try Kowas Safaris in Namibia. There are many quality outfits in both places.
your best bet with a $14,000 budget is $2,000 for air then do PG plus a cow buff. A management buff bull best price will be $7500 to $8500 leaving little for PG. A cow cuff should cost no more than $3,000 or go somewhere else leaving plenty of money for PG

A
Say I was looking to book my first African hunt in South Africa with a budget of $20,000 CAD or $14,208 USD for our American friends.

What's the best value hunt I could get with that? Keep in mind this is the total budget that will have to also include airfare, tips, the hunt and maybe taxidermy for a choice animal or two.

I'm guessing I'd be looking around a 7 day plains game hunt, how many species would this cover? Would it be possible to hunt a bull cape buffalo with this budget or even a buffalo with a couple plains game combo?

Looking to get the best hunt for the money.
A I did a father an son hunt for a ton of plains game for way way under 20k.

Exactly. A spread sheet allows you to compare Apples to Apples.

@Northern Shooter I hope you enjoy the process of getting this safari built to your specifications.

I know the best plan but will have to just let them find it!

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
