What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

Have any of you fitted a quality after market leather strap to their Rolex, the sort that uses the Rolex clasp? What is a good brand?

Pics or it doesn't count. ;)
It’s getting a new crystal and ceramic insert. Accidentally did a quick weld job and forgot to take it off. Hope the parts come in before my hunt this summer or I’m picking it up and taking it back for repairs after my hunt.

I like that a lot. Never seen this model and I have a half dozen or so Tudors. Is the bezel ceramic or aluminum?

Lumed ceramic

Are they still in production? How thick is it? Some Tudors are just too thick for me.

2024, brand new $4850 MSRP. Very hard to find right now at dealers. Boutiques are your best chance or slightly used ($3800-$4100)

42mm fixed lugs (single pass or NATO and you’re not loosing this one)
12.7mm thick
22mm lug width
51 Lug to Lug
G2 Ti case / G5 Ti case back
80g on fabric strap
200m WR
Travelers GMT
24hr ceramic bi-direction bezel (48-click)
Caliber MT5652-U - METAS/COSC certified -0/+5 w/65hr power reserve

I like it! Would need to try one on. I tend to like 38-40mm. I do have a titanium pelagos.

Does the fixed lug on the nato where smaller or larger in your opinion?

Not leather, but I have successfully fitted a Rubber B strap to my Explorer II. I chose the black one with the thin orange stripe, it goes with the orange GMT hand on the dial. It does use the Rolex clasp.

I bought the proper tools for the spring bars (Amazon), watched a few YouTube videos, covered the metal surfaces with tape to prevent scratches, and away we went. It turned out fine and is easy to learn if you're willing to go slowly and be careful.

Smaller than a male end link bracelet. I prefer single pass nylon with under wrist buckle (like the one that it comes with). Ali Express has $2.00 nylon elastics that are very comfortable. I make my own leather versions.

Try on a MN FXD they are the same size. If you have the 42 Pelagos then it’s also going to wear the same.

It’s 51mm lug to lug. If that not going to hang over your wrist, you’re GTG.

They are basically just like a smart phone with all of the convenience and issues you have with those apply. They will, also like a smart phone track all of your movements and sell your data.

That’s one of the reasons for the resurgence of good automatic watches in the military circles. There are a lot of buildings on military installations where smartwatches are banned.
Thank you for the explanation. Makes perfect sense.

Thanks Towser. Rubber B are telling me they will only have stock for the Explorer 1 40mm around year end. I believe the lug width on the Explorer 2 is 22mm, but on the Explorer 1 40mm it is 21mm.

I have not used these and have no affiliation with them, but these look like top quality straps that use the original deployment clasp that came with your Rolex. Let me know what you think.

Rolex Leather Straps

I've done this with two of my Omega's. The '74 Speedy and most recently the Railmaster. In both cases, I've bought Omega branded straps and Omega branded deployment clasps. They weren't cheap, but quality products rarely are.

It depends on what you want in a watch. If you're just looking for the basic functions of a watch such as date, time, alarm... maybe take a look at a Casio Protek or Casio G-shock for hunting.

@0002S great taste in Tudor, the LHD another one I really like. Here is my BB41, photo taken a bit before pulling in a nice marlin last year.

I pick a watch for adventures and incorporate it into a daily photo, that represents something special, from that day. That way when I look at the watch and or photo, I am able too, in my mind’s eye, remember the event more clearly.

that looks good BeeMaa. I see the tail sticks through, but on the Rolex clasp I believe it terminates in a pin. Hence why you need to know your wrist measurement. Am I correct?

I can confirm that. Also, I'm pretty sure Rolex will not sell you a factory clasp or strap, so that's a plus for Omega if they will. I can also confirm that a Rolex AD will not perform the change for you with an aftermarket strap.

One interesting thing that I realized: if you learn how to make a bracelet/strap change on your Rolex, it opens up the possibility of sharing the watch with your wife or girlfriend....... if you are so inclined. You can just change back and forth between the two sizes of straps, depending on who is wearing the watch for a while.

I once heard Kevin O'Leary refer to the Daytona as "The girlfriend watch. Because you loan it to her for a day and it looks so good on her that you never get it back." ;)

That’s what it looks like to me. Like I said, I have no experience with this company but it looks like top quality stuff.

It’s tough to find a leather & deployment for a Rolex. If this doesn’t work out, I’ll have to recommend an Omega as an alternative. ;)
