What to expect weight wise for .500 NE or larger double?

The rigby sounds a smidge light to me in 500, but absolutely perfect if you put an rmr on it. I'd want a 500NE to weigh 11.25 to 12lbs approximately, all kitted out and loaded. (Naked, yours will be 11 to 11.25, sling/ammo/sight will eat up the remainder)

My .500 will have an RMR on it. Also, I am really not bothered by the .500 recoil as I let it happen and ride it. As seen below.

I liked the brain shot and the boiler room follow up. Very proper. You seem like a smaller guy, at least the recoil pushes you rather than you absorbing it all. I’m too heavy and too tall. No Nitro express moves me, it just jellies my organs. Not fun.

As to the OP’s question… even if you keep the weight down on a big double, IMO, they will never feel or handle like a svelte sxs shotgun. If you have shot a lot and are used to shooting bolt guns, a double rifle will immediately feel clumsy and muzzle heavy. But if it’s important for you to live the nostalgia and look the part then go for it. Such opinions are viewed as sacrilege here I know, but my opinion and .02 nonetheless.

Actually, recoil does not push me at all. Look at my feet at the following video, I just let recoil happen, without even holding the gun very tight. The gun rises up and then comes down with the energy going up rather than straight through. It is a technique of riding the recoil. Yes, I am small 6', 178 lbs when fit.
