What stocks are you trading today

Thought there might be price support at DOW 20,000. That didn't happen so not sure where a floor would be. I also don't really trust large up days right now. I can't tell if the momentum is good or if one of the massive players is caught in a short squeeze and calling Mnuchin for money.

Digital currencies have mirrored the stock market when it doesn't seem like they should. Digitals were probably a bubble also and needed some air released. Yesterday it looked like XBT might start separating from the DOW. Today it looked like they separated until the last 20 minutes of the equity market.

I stuck my toe in the water and picked up some XBT. For the last week it has been in a narrow range (relatively). If it breaks out north I will add to the position. If it breaks south I am out of it.

If equities wallow or fall some more, XBT may have some upside possibilities. I still am not big on digitals and wouldn't put a large percent of net worth in them. It just provides a trade that might run counter to the market.

We should resurrect this thread in a year. I am sure it will be good for a bunch of laughs.:D

All the countries of the world are debasing their currencies. I have done the following two trades as a hedge:

Above is my post from 3/18. I bought XBT at $5,200. I continued adding to my position through the $6,000's. XBT went over $19,000 today.

Somewhere in this thread I believe I mentioned buying ETH. If I remember correct my first purchase was at $142. I have continued to add to that position with my last purchase in the $400's. Price at the moment is just over $600.

The following is not a hedge but a long term investment.

Before the virus I already had LINK. After the virus I picked up some more at $3.53 and added to the position and will continue to add to this position, probably for many years into the future. The price today is over $15.

I sold all of our nontaxable stocks at the end of January when I first heard of the virus and put the funds into short term bonds. I was fortunate in that I missed the fall however I was slow to buy back in and missed much of the recovery. I bought back in at DOW 25,000. Wish I had been smart enough to put all those funds into the first three items I mentioned.

At the start of the virus I sold a couple pieces of real estate just to make sure cash was available. Probably should have kept the real estate, but on the up side some of those monies went into XBT, ETH and LINK

These are all of my buys/sells this year. 2020 makes me look like a genius when in reality this was the adjustment year to keep my decades long rate of return looking presentable. :D

I’m not much of a crypto guy, but what are your thoughts on ripple?

Afraid I don't know anything about it. I'm not really a crypto guy either, XBT and ETH are more of a counter play against central currencies. They are the two largest but Ripple is right behind.

LINK isn't really a crypto but is on the crypto exchanges.

What are your thoughts on Ripple?

Part of the reason to hedge central currencies.

Still holding small positions in MRO, APA, AAl, CCL. All have nice gains since investment/gamble.

I made a 20% gain in RIOT on a whim this week, Yay $200!

So yes, I play small ball on individual offerings generally...

Since I put myself on the record last March, I figured I should post when I sold.

Sold all XBT the last couple weeks between $30,00 and $36,000. Started accumulating it 10 months ago at $5,200. This was a super nice run. Wish I was this good all the time.

Sold some ETH in the last couple of weeks between $1,000-$1,200. (should have sold it today  ) Started accumulating it 10 months ago at $142. This too was a super nice run. Keeping some ETH since it looks to be a better crypto currency than XBT in the long haul.

Put all XBT profits into LINK. Put the ETH profits into LINK. I have had LINK for a couple of years. It has been pretty special and has the chance to be a once in a generation type investment.

Don't make any investment decisions off of what I say. In no way am I a financial advisor. Just a peckerwood with a keyboard trying to stay current in these changing financial times.

All the best with everyones investments.

If you ever want to feel better about missing big, I had 10,000 shares of Penn at about 5.00. As you can guess, I do not now own them at 105, dumped most all of them in the 8 dollar range.

If it makes you feel better I bought LINK in 2017 for .25 cents...sold it for a dollar.

My friend is still holding...

Nice trades there!

LINK definitely looks like it is wanting to break out over 9.20, interesting

My long term portfolio is mostly marijuana stocks, speculating on more state and even federal legalization next 1-2 years

That's before I bought it. Close to the time my son got in.

I know it sucks, but X4 is still great. Congratulations.

Today it is X80 from your buy. Not many things do that. Especially not over 3 years.

Chainlink looks to be the plumbing that runs Defi.

Defi is currently < $1T

World Equity Markets currently $90T

World Derivatives Markets currently >$1Q

Where will Chanlink end up. It may depend on Defi..........

......and Defi is just one thing Chainlink does.

GameStop?????????? I don't understand this, Bitcoin, Tesla and a few others.

GameStop (GME) shares gained another 92% today to close at a record $147.98 a piece in another clash filled session between reddit WallStreetBets and short sellers. The company’s market cap is now over $10 billion.

More of a short squeeze. Think about shares x price...WAY too much money traded to be "reddit hype". GME has been headed towards bankruptcy and the downtrend on the chart shows it, lots of money in short. Then maybe it pops a little based on news hype, the shorts start to get out. As more cover their shares it keeps climbing, at a certain point a lot of institutions have to cover because it's going too high, driving it more. Then you have the idiots that like to buy things up hundreds of percents and gamble that contribute a little. Several factors at play, but the capital traded on the insane move is more than what can be attributed to hype of individuals combined...might have started it a little but that's about it

Agree that this looks like the short squeeze of the century so far. Looks like it is at $222 after hours.

There is some form of perverse pleasure watching hedge fund managers getting their heads handed to them on a platter by a bunch of kids playing on the computer.

Agree with MikeCatt that it looks like some large money is piling on behind the kids.
