What safari clothes/gear do you use?

Jäger, rest easy. The Buffalo hunt I did in Limpopo last year was led by a DG PH of course, but the tracker wore a white t shirt, red trousers and had ostrich skin driving shoes on his feet!!! The epitome of style. I felt rather a twit in my full cammo gear. However, my cammo gear is my cammo gear and it goes where I go. The trousers are getting a few holes now but that does not matter. I had to forego the cammo in Zim and buy a few plain coloured bits and bobs, but, like another poster, I did fall heir to some shirts from a chap who got tick fever and said his African days were over. The Leopard would not see you if you were in full fancy dress in the blind - and, if it did, it might be taken by surprise and not scratch you too much!!!

What safari clothes/gear do you use and what retailers and websites do you get it from? Thanks!

Walmart and Goodwill work for me. $15/shirt, $16/pants and a couple of bottles of permethrin to spray my clothes for ticks. I already have hiking boots, sunglasses and a light jacket.

My hunting attire has been sourced from eBay on the whole.

I got five pairs of shorts and a shirt from Cabelas bargain cave a couple of years ago when I was in the U.S. simply because they were too good not to buy.
Cabelas trail shorts with 5" inseam worked out to be about £5 a pair and Cabelas safari jacket was about £21.

I have bought some decent Jeep trousers on eBay as well as shirts from Levis and Fjällräven.

My boots, again from eBay are made by Lowa who make awesome footwear, I wear Lowa boots at work, in fact I sell my issued boots and buy Lowa because they're so much better. I have a light pair of trekking shoes, also by Lowa and again from eBay.

I also have Deerhunter gloves, shirt, fleeces and neck gaiter, Carhartt beanie for cold mornings, my Africahunting.com baseball cap and a pair of Oakley Flak Jacket sunglasses.

I will get another lightweight jacket and a wide brimmed safari style hat.

If anyone knows where to get a traditional style felt safari hat I would appreciate a heads up as most places I've looked at only have modern headgear.

Tan and green Cabelas safari shirts, cotton canvas Carhartt pants, wolverine slip on boots with no laces, and a ball cap. Same gear I wear hunting here in Texas.

I just got done packing for my upcoming trip that I am leaving on this coming Tuesday.

My color combinations will be all off. I have two pair of military BDU's for pants. One olive and one woodland camo. My shirts will be mossy oak camo for long sleeve and a solid green or olive for short sleeves. That along with a BDU hat that is olive in color.

I figure that the animals won't care so why should I?

Be careful now. Some "proper" hunter might just come along to let you know you are defaming the sport and setting the rest of us up for the wrath of the anti-hunters!

It won't be me though, 'cause I'm with you. If I can't wear mis-matched or frayed clothing while in the bush, something is bad wrong!

I got all out for my pink attire and have them done special .That off the shelf stuff is just not nice enough. There will be more pink hitting SA in 2016.

What will work well is to by surplus IDF Army shirts and pants (you can get them online). Its basically the same as the old South African Defense Force browns. It will work from Namibia to the Eastern Cape. I also use olive cheap shirts from local hunting shops. The only things I spend money on is decent (warm jackets) and boots. For boots I would recommend Courtney's from Zimbabwe. I am sure you can buy them in the US.

All of my hunting clothes are cotton, because everything is hot ironed each day in the camps that I have hunted from and I do mean HOT ironed (The camp staff was very dedicated to their work, so to speak).
Also all T-Shirts, outer shirt and long pants/hiking shorts are dull green or dull brown.
And 99% of my hunting clothes are from the local 2nd had stores.
I bring 3 T-Shirts, 3 underwear, 3 pair socks, 2 long sleeve shirts, 2 short pants, 2 long pants. 3 bandanas, 1 pair hunting boots and 1 pair dull color tennis or running shoes, with aggressive lug sole (in case I bust my hunting boots somehow).

My boots however are Courteney brand made in Zimbabwe and purchased through Westley Richards web site here in the USA.
Last but not least, my hat is a canvas "fedora" style, something like was in style but made of wool felt back in the 1920's and 30's (Humphrey Bogart, Indiana Jones, etc. etc).
I bought it many long years ago from a tourist shop at Kona Hawaii of all unlikely places.
If my memory serves me correctly, I either paid $20. or possibly $25.US for it new.
I have also tried an Aussie style "boonie hat" (similar to the US Military version but with slightly wider brim.

Baseball style caps leave the tops of my ears sun burned.
Besides, baseball bores me to death in the first place - LOL (no ... really .... it really does bore me that much).

I meant to say "2 pair short pants and ONE pair long pants".
Also, I forgot to mention a coat.
Mine is some Eastern European Country's military surplus brown canvas one I bought through a web site here in the USA for under 20 dollars US.
It is both warm and water proof, not very noisy either (as if I've ever needed it aside from riding in the truck LOL.)
I also bring leather gloves, such as a cowboy or stockhand might wear and a warm hat, all for riding in the truck before daylight.

Faded out green or brown T shirt, well worn jeans, a drab green sweat shirt or a free fleese from the outfitter when it is chilly, a soft quiet rain coat that seconds as a windbreaker, well worn in tennis shoes or light weight hiking boots, one of those baseball hats with the screen for airflow and to catch every thorn..... blisters from the sun, scratches from the thorns, bite marks and a bit of swelling from the bugs, spider webs, some caked on mud, a bit of sand, 2 or 3 imbedded thorns, a heavy dose or various insecticides, dried blood ... mostly from animals, a few day old beard, and a combination of a permanent grin and blood shot eyes.
