What kind of bullet do you shoot first shot for Buffalo?

Hello again,
My gunsmith lends me (loans me ?) the rifle and I'll try next saturday.
Here are pics of the .416 RM and of my own .375 H&H . There are few differences :
- the "mouth" of the barrel
- the "inscriptions" on the barrel are not the same
and ... the condition ... my rifle is like new, the 416 RM is .. used, but no problem about its working!
I am going to try to put pics of the both

Below Winch 70 Safari Express .375 H&H less than 2 years old

Remember the price 850 US$ , in Europa : Rifle : 1800 US$ + scope : 825 US$ + mount ... Here ALL is very expansive !!!

Your opinion about the "quality" of the rifle : Ok for the future use .. enough ? Knowing I'll test it saturday ..

Other pics about the inscription on the 416 :

Look at the inscrition : New Haven ... one of the last rifle made there ?
Deep cleaning.
Knowing I shot more often on the range than ... in the bush.
According to the price of ammo :I shot 20pcs cal.375 H&H for 2 months, with 416 I think 20 ammo for 4 months , the one or the other one .. Other .270 W middle range (250 yds) and 9.3x62 Mauser (160yds) . Here in Europa 9.3x62 = 25 US $ /20pcs equal .270W. The global budget must be the same !!!

The gun would bring that much and more in America, it just needs some love and care. Those guns are built strong and reliable! I'd still buy it!

Finished !
I have dismounted the rifle. Perfect! No surprise inside. The stock inside is like new.
The gun is clean. Just a few oil and dust removed. And very , very little "poc" on the stock and very light scratchs on the coating of the barrel.
No loose. Action smooth. Security so. The trigger is ok (not an MOA I think but well regulated).
Now wait saturday ....
Thanks again for yours advices.

Bebo, I can virtually guarantee that no buffalo is going to request to look your rifle over for nicks and scratch marks before succumbing to a .416 Rem bullet! Buy! I wish someone would make me an offer like that...

If the Buff is close enough to see the scratches you will .....................

I'm glad that things turned out well for you with the rifle. I can't wait to hear about your results from the range this weekend...

Hello men,
Last saturday morning I've shot the .416RM. for the first time.

1- Shot first my .375 H&H .... 10 ammos 50yds , stand up, "no stick" .
8/10 shots inside a target : 2" of diameter. Ready for the .416 RM

2 - The two rifles are very closed , excepted the trigger. Go!

BAOUM, BAOUM !!! OKKKK !! P E R F E C T!! the fun !!!

3 - New target : two "stones" 10"*10"*20" : 50yds ....
Blowed out .... the stones.Wahou!!!

This is not at all a monster the 416RM. Easy to manage.
It's need the same care than the .375 H&H, it'snt .22LR.

Quite different than the .458WM ( I had owned a Parker Hale : I disliked its stock !!! )

OKK! I keep it.

I send you pics soon !!
Thanks again for yours advices!!! :D

Excellent! Many complain about the weight of the Safari Express, but it sure goes a long way to eating up that recoil.

Now you're off to do a little diamond shopping for that wife of yours right?

Sounds like your ready, nice pair I don't think you'll regret it. :thumb:

I use ether Woodleigh FMJ or Swift A Frame bullets for Buffalo BUT will be trying the North Fork Cup point solids next time.
