My day kit is actually two kits, with one just being a smaller version of the other. The small kit I have down in weight to exactly 2#’s total. It goes on every stalk with me. The large kit normally stays in my frame pack. This time (will stay) in the buggy.

1) first aid package w/tourniquet, sharpie, clotting agent, clotting gauze, Israeli compression bandage, adhesive wrap, bandaids, neosporin, antacids (there’s no bigger discomfort than having heartburn without relief in the bush), baby aspirin, naproxen, sterile gloves.

2) LED pen light (AAA)

3) two chem lights

4) lifestraw

5) spare glasses

6) ZEISS lens cloth, silk wipe, and spritz

7) Kodak pixpro

When in Africa, I take a small 5.11 Rush 12.0 backpack in black. In it, I have extra ammo, pen, flashlight, camera, batteries for camera, scope, rangefinder, and a small individual first aid kit. This backpack its strictly used for when hunting and goes with my checking baggage.

I don't bother. My daypack is always in the truck in case we have to spend the day chasing a wounded animal (only happened once) or hoofing it all day after buffalo. Otherwise I have a pocket full of extra magazine worth ammo and that's it. Tracker will usually have a pack with water and TP. We will never be out after dark so no need for flashlight. First aid is in the truck. I don't eat and rarely even drink water when hunting.

Mine is divided between my bino harness and daypack (daypack stays in the truck in Africa )…

1. IFAK - day pack

2. Headlamp (petzel aktik core)- bino harness

3. Small knife (leatherman skelatool KB)- bino harness

4. USB battery (10k mAh) ) & phone cord- day pack

5. Water bottle- day pack

6. TP kit (“shit kit”) -day pack

7. Spare ammo- bino harness & daypack

8. Bug spray and or sun screen depending on conditions- day pack

9. Bic lighter or small ferro rod- day pack

10. Light jacket, rain jacket, or hoodie depending on conditions- day pack

Zippo lighter
Power Bank & Charging Cable
Buck 110 Lockback folder

Compass

Beg to disagree about the after dark!

Hunting bongo in Cameroon we tracked too long but got the bongo (day 12 of 14 day hunt). Had we not got it, we’d have gotten out in time but with butchering and carrying the loads and then getting lost (who says the Bako don’t get lost?!), it got dark. And when it gets dark in the jungle, it gets dark quickly.

We eventually fired two shots and got a truck horn response, so got out. But I was very happy to have a headlamp, and would have been even happier if we’d had to spend a pitch black night in the jungle. I (well, the tracker carrying my pack (only in the jungle)) always bring a headlight and a lighter if it looks like we might be away from the vehicle for any extended period of time.

I have a warm wx and a cold wx kit, since I hunt in the southern hemisphere in the winter/ spring and the northern hemisphere in the fall/winter. Basic load for both kits is 2 liter water, toilet paper, ammo, compass, binos, SPF lotion (I actively fight skin cancer), fix-it sticks kit, head lamp, folding blade Buck knife. Cold wx kit I just ad extra pair wool socks, extra pair winter gloves, hand warmers, thermos hot drink.

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
