What have you killed with the 8x57?

I believe this one is the 22H. Carbine length barrel. 20.5"
The 21H is the 23.6 (600mm) barrel. But I agree, these Brno's are beautiful and slick. I'm a big fan of most Brno-CZ rifles.
Sorry I couldn’t see if it was the sporter or full length stock. I thought that the full length stocks were the Mod 22.

Please see the advertisement from that period.

I wonder how many 18 wheeler trucks would be required to carry all the game that the 8x57 has killed in Europe alone? I have several. They are under-rated in North America, as are many other metric calibers. Should have bought a full stocked 22F for $1800 about five years ago, but that would make 4 total 8mm rifles, plus I just didn't have the heart to drill and tap it.
My 8x57jr has taken whitetails at ranges of 30-250 yards. Sellier & Belloit ammo.

Last year I shot everything with the 8x57 and RWS Hit ammo. I didn't really like the ammo, but I did like the 8x57.

I shot 2 fallow bucks of good size in Slovenia and 3 roe bucks in Hungary.

I had 4 other hunts I went on where I didn't pull the trigger. Some roe deer hunts and wild boar hunts in Germany and a chamois hunt in Slovenia.

A nice Impala, two Warthog culls, and one Impala cull (no photo) taken for the landowner. He generously let me do a little culling at no charge.

Location: northern Limpopo Province, South Africa way back in 2005 (Where has the time gone?)
Rifle: Remington Model 700 Classic (2004 edition) in 8x57JS
Handload: 220 gr Woodleigh RN at 2400 fps (chronographed 10 shot average; rounded to nearest 5 fps)

I primarily used my CZ 550 American in 9.3x62 on that trip but I took along the Rem 700 in 8x57JS as a backup rifle. I just wanted to use the Rem 700 a little since I had it with me. (In the 9.3x62 my handload was a 286 gr Woodleigh RN at 2395 fps.) I think the two cartridges make a nice pairing.

By the way, my PH on that trip was Africa Hunting member IvW. We had a great time and I highly recommend him.

Cheers! Bob F. :)

German Set Triggers.
@grand veneur
I was going to say you pull the rear trigger if it doesn't go bang then pull the front trigger it may fire second pull. If it still don't go bang operate bolt, chamber new round and try again.
I know I'm a smart arse.
Bob

I have several rifles equipped with it. I am still used to shoot with, but the newer generation of hunters in our countries no longer likes this type of trigger.
I have a Mauser 8x57JS with double trigger set, it really is a great option to have when you want to shoot accurate using this double trigger/hair trigger makes sense. My two Mauser 8x57JS hunting rifles..it is a great caliber for hard hitting deep penetration on bush-veld game here in South Africa.
