What did you reload today?

Hmm, would a longer barrel advantage of the slower powder? T/C made my barrel in 28" for the Pro Hunter I have.
I would say give it a test and find out. Do you have Gordons Reloading tool? Its free and can give you an idea where to start your test ladder.

@Ryan
Yes the slower powder would be an advantage in a longer barrel with the pro hunter. Another great powder for the heavier bullets is Hodgon Superformance. Load the same weight as the H4831sc. This will give even higher velocities and lower pressure. In my 25 I got around a 200fps gain at what appears to be lower pressure.

@Ryan
Superformance is a tad slower than H4831sc so give great performance in the 25. Never exceed the max chare of 4831sc when using it tho.
Superformance will give the 25-06 a set of ball like you wouldn't believe.

I had a Ruger .308 that wouldn’t shoot well consistently. Sold it and picked up a Browning X-bolt at a great price. Cranked out some 150gr Speer spritzers with CFE223 to break in the new .308.

Ready for an upcomming Nyala cull: 170 x 30-06

Bullet: Peregrine (180gr)

Hey crew,

Was bored today so l thought I'd load up some more 425 Express ammo...

When l bought my rifle l also purchased 100 un-formed cases - but with the correct headstamp.
I had already loaded up 50, so l thought l might as well load up some more!

Here's the un-formed case...

I then ran the un-formed case through a FLS die...

And trimmed... simple!

These are what I use in my 425 Express, Aussie made 360gn Atomic 29 projectiles...

The newly formed 425 Express case is then primed with a CCI Mag Primer, filled with 72gn of 2206H (H4895) and the Atomic 29 projectile seated and crimped...

And done!
This load produces 2500fps with the 360gn Atomic 29 and once loaded, l'm ready for anything (y)

Finished the initial loading of the 180 grain Norma BondStrike for the .30-06.
Will test, with chrono in hand, on Labor Day, Monday.

Should be fun. Heck, it's always fun.
How did it go Puddle?
Also looking at giving the 180gr Bondstrike a try in my 06.

Was reading up about the 7x66SE a short while ago.
Very interesting cartridge!

@FlyGuy - I settled on 56.5 grains H4350 using Norma brass and Fiocchi LR primers.

Average MV was 2,743+ fps which is good as my barrel is most consistent with 180 grain bullets launching between 2,700 - 2,750 fps. Initial 5 round groups were easily 1".

Initial OAL was simply standard magazine length - 3.340" which happens to be -0.050" off the rifling for that bullet' ogive.

Next week I'll use the same recipe, but test various seating depths: -0.060", -0.065", and -0.070" and see if there's a bullet jump in there that the barrel prefers.

I'll see what happens ...

Thanks Puddle.
2700-2750 is also the velocity that my 30-06 barrel enjoys.
Last week I did a ladder test with my 6.5x55, but the velocities were much lower than I expected.
I suspect that my old chrony is the problem.

Will run the same test this weekend using a Labradar to confirm.

Hi Jon,
I saw your post for the .500 NE cases. Are these all brass or are they nickel plated? Hard for me to tell... sorry.
Thanks,
