What did you reload today?

Broke out five 20 round boxes of my new old stock stash WW-Super 458 WM brass, you guys remember those? the ones with annealing marks about an inch and a half down the case. FL sized all 100 sticks, set trimmer to 2.500" to square up case mouths, de-burred, ran em through tumbler to clean up.
Popped in some fresh Fed-215's, dropped in 83gr AA-2460 under the new 400gr CEB #13 solid with .700" nose projection, seated at 3.380 inch, gave 'em a good pinch from Lee FCD, load clocked 2597 fps.

84grs AA-2460 under the 404gr Hammer bullet sent them out at 2594 fps over the Garmin, shot both loads last week I had loaded in once fired brass, the 404 Hammers and 400gr CEB solid landed in the same ragged hole at 100 yards from my new Model 70 build in 458 WM, it wears a 25.5" 10 twist Pac-Nor stainless Super Match barrel.

Being all stainless and sitting in a pillared syn stock, I can think of no better one gun rig, for anywhere in the world, for any huntable animal, in any weather condition, with it's 2.5-10x24mm Nightforce scope with lit NP-1 reticle on a steel Farrell rail, it can handle dangerous game up close, and in the shadows, or a bull Moose, Elk or Eland at 400 yards, fun, fun sport we have here Gentlemen!

I agree with everything you say (y)

50Gunner gets cheers from me too, full agreement, like Badboymelvin whom I count as outstanding in his discernment of these matters.
I got images from 50Gunner.
His new .458 WIN MAG:

Home on his range:
A 100-yard, three-shot group of 404-gr Stone Hammers plus one shot of 400-gr CEB Safari Solid (.700" Nose Projection). Both bullets mingling at 2600 fps MV and on paper at 100 yards.
Any vertical stringing of the 404-gr Stone Hammers will be eliminated by free-floating the tip of stock
that lightly contacted barrel. This is 50Gunner's latest Work In Progress.

If I didn't get any of that correct, please let me know, 50Gunner.

50Gunner was the first person to kill a cape buffalo bull with that 404-gr Stone Hammer (called Shock Hammer previously).
Hydehunter was the second, then he went and became the first person to kill a cape buffalo cow with the 400-grain CEB Safari Solid, stopping a charge at 7 feet !
His 19.5"-barreled .458 WIN MAG gave his handload velocity of 2350 fps, sufficient to go go from nose to under the skin of the rump.
He will have to elaborate on that one.

Last week I brought home the meat of a +1500-pound water buffalo cow and a +500-pound not-so-wild-boar from my favorite game farm.

Bullets I used were 404-gr Stone Hammer and 400-gr CEB Safari Solid, both at 2500 fps MV from a 24" (23-13/16") M70 Winchester.
Performance of the bullets could not have been better, at 2500 fps.
COL for both bullets was 3.380" with 80 grains of Benchmark.

Norma brass is 4.4 grains of water greater in capacity than the W-W Super brass for .458 WIN MAG.
By using Norma Brass and 3.580" COL with 84 grains of Benchmark, 404-gr Stone Hammer, 2600 fps MV is surpassed with no problems.

You .458 Lott shooters be careful in working up to that MV with Hammer and CEB.
You will probably blow primers before you get there.
The cutting portion of a SAAMI .458 WIN MAG chamber reamer
is a lot longer than that of a SAAMI .458 Lott chamber reamer.

I am probably going back to AA-2460s in standard brass like the W-W Super,
as 50Gunner demonstrated.
I am still fond of Benchmark in Norma brass at 3.380" COL for both bullets at 2500 fps.
The 400-gr CEB had a 5-shot standard deviation of 1.4 fps by Garmin.
Longer COL and standard brass with AA-2460s:
Both 404-gr Hammer and 400-gr CEB FN are good at 2600 fps.

Here is 50Gunner's preliminary work getting to 2600 fps with 400-gr CEB:

If using Norma brass instead of W-W Super, Hornady, Federal, or R-P (the standard .458 WIN MAG brass capacities),
you can make the COL 0.1" shorter with same powder charges.
Thus, the 3.450" 400-gr CEB at 2600 fps could become a 3.350" COL in Norma brass, etc.

That perfect 3.380" COL with 400-gr CEB FN in W-W brass with 83 grains of AA-2460s is going to be about 2550 fps MV from a 24" barrel is my SWAG.
Adequate for elephant or blue whale.

50Gunner's nicely balanced and perfect weight .458 WIN MAG:

Hubba hubba on the scope.

Big day at the bench for me. I’m headed to FTW for the safari school in two weeks. So put together 200 rounds of 30-06 with 165 gran accubonds and 100 rounds of 376 with low velocity 270 grain interlocks. Have them boxed up for UPS to pick up and take to FTW tomorrow.

Looking forward to the school.

I worked up a 44 magnum load today. I used home cast Keith bullets, H&G 503 clone weighing 257 grains, and Vihtavuori N110 powder. 19.5 grains gave me 1155 fps average with good accuracy out of my 4” Smith and Wesson 29-5. I could probably go faster but didn’t see a need.
