What did you get yourself for Christmas?

McBride’s Guns in central Austin, the gun shop I grew up in, recently sold and will change ownership in February. Sad days for me… Many hours I’ve spent in that shop and around the McBride family.

I drove down this morning with a card and some treats for Joe and see if I could find a fitting gun to make as my last purchase before the new owners take over. Came home with a used Taylor’s Uberti Winchester Model ‘66 in .38 Special, with scabbard. Should be a ton of fun to shoot.

What have y’all gotten yourselves for Christmas?

Ive bought WAY more than I should have this year...

Saw 2x blind towers on clearance a couple of weeks ago.. the 10' tower retails for $2800 and the 5' tower for $1000... I brought them both home for $1K (no idea what Im going to do with them... but at that price they can sit in the storage unit until I figure it out)...

@cash_tx is really good at spending my money... he knows Ive been looking for a deal on a 22-250 lately.. he sent me a link to a gun that was extremely well priced at the Bass Pro in Rogers, AR.. I bought it sight unseen last Friday

Now, with just 36 hours to go before Christmas, Im searching for the right optic, bases, and rings to go with the 22-250

Well, mine is out there, only it's not an RR, it's a WR and it's WAY above my pay grade, but I've wanted it since I first saw it. It's one of those, "I can buy it, but can't afford it," situations. My brother is a bad influence when it comes to nice shotguns. He sent me a gunbroker link to a new old stock/NIB Rizzini Artemis Light in 20g that was priced almost $2K under the new ones coming in with tariff pricing. Brand new one made in 2022 and never sold, so I just had to jump on it. Only problem is it is almost too pretty to take out and shoot!

Nothing. The older I get the fewer material items I find myself wanting. Books and music excluded. Health, an uncluttered life and experiences are my greatest desires as time goes by.

I was a bad boy, not throughout the year, but might have made a few firearm investments as a sort of Christmas present for myself. Heym 89b 450/400, Westley Richards 450/400, Sterling Davenport 375 (no photos yet), Holland & Holland 375 (fingers crossed and tracking seems to have stalled in Texas), and a custom Bill Dowtin 280AI on a G33/40 with some of the most exquisite wood.
