What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

In Germany, the cartridge 6,5x55 still has a following, despite an increasingly suffering from competition from the cartridge 6.5 Creedmoor. Bringing it back from the death ist still not necessary.

No 30-06. I don’t believe that 250 grain bullets are made in 30 caliber anymore but this is what they look like.

I thought Hawk Bullets made a 250gn version in .30 cal. Maybe they don't anymore. I've never seen them, and I have no idea if they're good. I believe it is an old-school, non-bonded cup-n-core style round nose.

I'd like to see the following see the light of day again:
250-3000 Savage
264 Win Mag
300 H&H
8x64 Brenneke
358 Norma Mag
404 Jeffrey
50-110 Win

I'd like to see the following have a come back. I don't see it happening but just thoughtful wishes.

At least we can still reload for them.

257 Roberts
6mm Rem
300 H&H
8x64s
8x68s
8mm rem mag
325 wsm
338 federal
9.3x57

8x57…the grandpappy of so many. Doesn’t get the love it deserves

The 8x57 is far from dead. There's just to many rifles out there that need to be fed , there will be plenty of ammunition and components for years to come.
Lots of Military surplus rifle's, used hunting rifles from the thousands of husqvarna's M96's,1600's, FN98's, Zastava's, Sporters, and not to mention New production rifles!

I've noticed at least in Canada there has been an increase of new rifles pouring in the country. Especially from CZ, Sauer, Tikka, Sako and etc. I even got to see a couple lists of from a distributor and was pleasantly surprised at how many CZ in 8x57's came into the country. Clearly there's a demand if they're bringing them in.

The same could be said about the 7x57, lots of rifle's out there that need to be fed, the only thing it doesn't have going for itself is the lack of modern production rifles minus special orders. Most will argue that it is more desirable and more often used in custom builds- but there just seems to be very little modern production and demand in the rifle department. Mauser/Rigby are just a couple of the one that still offers the 7x57 and they are very few in-between.

The cartridge 9,3x57 seems to still exist, despite the fact that she is not popular in Germany. It seems to have been used primarily in Scandinavia. I only once hold a box of this ammunition that I found in a hunting cabin in northeast Greenland. The cartridge 9,3x57 suffered greatly of the competition from the cartridge 9,3x62, which is superior to it.

Blaser made a series of barrels in 9,3x57 for the R93 . Most went to Sweden and Germany . I have heard a veeery few came to Norway but that part is not confirmed .

Here is my list. I think that quite a few of us are thinking on the same line, mostly.

.300 H&H
.250-3000
.338 Federal / .338 RCM (both made sense to me even though I never shot either)
.44 Henry (soft spot for old blackpowder and rimfire to boot)

There are plenty others that I would like to see that were never actually made like the .41 Special or the .22 Eargensplitten Louderboomer.

I have seen where Norma does a run of the 9.3x57 ammunition periodically. It can be easily formed from 9.3x62 brass or 8x57 brass.

I’m dumb enough to have a fondness for calibers a lot of folks that don’t frequent this board have no idea about.

38Super
41Mag
7x57
7x64
300H&H
9.3x62
9.3x74R
404Jeffery

None of these are dead yet. You can still buy factory ammo for all of them. Got to be on your toes though. They sell out fast.

Fortunately I have dies and components for all of them.

Some dead, others with a foot in the grave.
308 Norma Magnum
300H&H
8x75 RS
9.3x64
450 NE
Looking at the new rifles and chamberings, 30-06 might make this list soon.
I haven’t been through the next 10 pages but I know Bruce Moulds had a 9.3x64 and BadBoyMelvin had the .308norma.

I don’t know much of old cartridges that may need saving but I would think many would be a viable option for a reloader if you find the components and dies. Might be costly but no more than creating a new wildcat because you have a great idea that you want to bring to life.

I have just stuck to mostly current factory offerings. Well all in fact but that’s purely because it’s more economical. I got my wife a 7x64 because I like the cool factor of old classic cartridges but it’s easy to obtain cases still.

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
