If youre still undecided after all of this.. I will gladly relieve you of the problem and send you $225 for the action today... :D :D :D

you got a great deal on that thing man... congrats!
I put up a post here on AH to see if anyone wanted it from my local dealer at that price, but only one or two expressed interest. I told the owner of the store, who is a good friend, to put it out of sight, because I knew someone would snatch it up quick. When Saturday rolled around and no takers had contacted myself or the dealer, I decided that it needed a good loving home. If you are interested, I'll let it go for what I've got in it.

Palehorse Zero; 24” standard barrel, 8.5 twist, excellent fit and finish, very accurate.
Good customer service? Thinking about having 300 prc barrel built for my R8. Trying to limit the number of cartridges and rifles in my collection which is why I don’t just grab a factory 300 win Blaser barrel; have another 300 PRC I will be keeping. Have heard some poor reviews of customer service from J Sipp. Have a 223, 6.5 prc, and 375 H&H barrel for it. The 25-06 and 257 Wby are too close to the 6.5 PRC (which I also have another rifle for which I am keeping) which is why I didn’t go with either of them for my small/medium game cartridge.

As the OP, says he will use a 30 cal (?magnum) for larger game I think the quarter bores provide more complementary effect than the 270. And I agree with another post, if he reloads I’d go with a 257 Wby over the 25/06. My brother in law does have a very accurate 257 Wby in addition to his 25/06 but can never seem to find time to reload and factory ammo is ridiculously expensive.

I cut a good deal on a used Winchester M70 long action at my local gunshop today. I'm planning a build for Pronghorn, Impala, Chamois and Deer size game, and anything bigger would bring a 30 cal out of it's case. The .25's seem to be almost made for this size of game at normal hunting ranges, so the .257 Roberts and the 25-05 might be my pick. I've also considered a 270 Winchester or 280 Remington for this build.

Edit: I stumbled across 200 new unfired Nosler .257 Roberts cases still in the factory boxes, in the same gun store, so brass for the .257 won't be a problem.View attachment 625596
If it we're me, I would look hard at the .280 Rem AI

Good customer service?
Yes; excellent communication. Delivery took a while because of the COVID supply chain problems, but they were in touch with me throughout the process and the product is great.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
