What binoculars do you use while on Safari?

I use a variety. For Africa, I use Swarovski 8x30 and 10x42.
In USA or Alaska, I use Leica 10x42 Geovids ranging binos and Swaro 15x56
I adapt what I use to the type of hunting.
As I have gotten older, I am finding the 10x meet my needs better.

My go-tos the last 5 years have been some Sig Sauer Zulus. Are they Swaros? No. But they are very lightweight, and have never let me down in Alaska, let alone the twice I have taken them to Africa. They have been more than good enough for what I do. I got them on sale on Amazon for under $200. Maybe someday they fail me? But so far so good. And as far as not needing them in Africa, I'd go crazy not having binos to glass with, anywhere: it's a pleasurable part of the hunt for me.

For many years for all of my US and foreign hunting I used Nikon 8x23 or 9x25 pocket binoculars.

Then after my New Zealand hunt in 2014 I got a pair of Nikon Monarch 10x42s that I'll probably use for all of the rest of my hunting.
Nikon Monarch 10x42 is what I carry now also. They may not be quite as sharp as the Euro glass, but I can't see the difference and they cost a lot less. If they are ever stolen or lost while I am on a hunting trip it won't be a financial hardship.

I have had wonderful service from a pair of Leica 10x42 Geovid HDB’s in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. They provide great clarity and the range finding ability is really useful. I carry them in a Kuiu harness, which is very effective at keeping dust, leaf litter and rain off them. A great combination for my requirements.

Leica 8x32.

serious bird watchers seem to prefer Swarovski 10x42. That is good enough for me. I like the range finder version .

I've been happy with Swarovski 8x30 CL Companion binoculars for my Africa hunts. Much better than pocket binoculars, not as bulky or heavy as a regular full size, they seem "just right"

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
