Just got Rigbys new book about their story and come back. Mine is #40 of 1,000. great read so far

Funny I was just leant a Book yesterday one of a 1000 published, written by my Old Boss called “Penfold” life & times of a Professional Hunting Guide From Down Under.
Good read for me as I know most of the people in it & some of the story’s & a few things I didn’t know !

Been an eclectic mix of late.

Finished horn of the hunter. I was savouring it for weeks, not wanting to finish it. But ruarks use enough gun was one of my first African books I read years ago. I almost left horn of the hunter on purpose.

Was the Harry Potter series before yet.

Plan on buying "shooting the British double rifle" soon.

Man eaters of Tasavo, John H Patterson
Tigero. Sasha Siemel. only white man to ever hunt Jaguars in Brazil with a spear, a book that is hard to put down.
Good read but that book makes me sad.
Have a good buddy that has a farm we share hunts. I have a cupple of small wet weather ponds that normally have water and some ducks during duck season.
I offered his son a copy of that book.
He loves hunting and fishing.
He told me flat out no thinks I only read what I have to for school.
So I gave him a dvd ( his dad still has a player)
Of Ghost in the darkness.
He loved the movie but still didn’t want the book.

Ron Thomson has a lot of books on Kindle. Reading currently his book At the beginning God created man, the hunter. First of six books that are his memoirs. Thoroughly enjoying it.
Just finished book one of his memoirs. Anybody that is into elephant hunting in one way or another has to read his memoirs. After reading two of his books in short succession I'll take a break.

Started reading Karamojo Safari by W.D.M. Bell.
Great read sofar.

By my choices you can see what I'll be planning hopefully in there somewhat next future (+- 5 years) ;)

Just finished a book on Eisenhower, "Ike's Bluff," and am now re-reading Stephen King's "The Stand."
I’ve read the Stand 3 times…and It 4 times!

Just picked this book up at a used book store. I have a feeling that in this day and age many people would view it with “Presentism” as @Red Leg mentioned but I think it’ll be interesting.
As for physical books vs ebooks, I much prefer the former. I have so far resisted getting a kindle but I do realize the convenience of them. So far my compromise has been to take pics of all the pages of the book I’m reading at the time on my phone. That way I have my book everywhere I go…I’m even reading it following my wife around while she’s shopping!!!

I’m in the latter chapters of “ The River of Doubt” it’s about Theodore Roosevelt’s journey in the Amazon basin in 1914.
Not sure of the author or the exact title but it’s a pretty interesting read.

Currently reading (listening) to this now. Tell you what, that expedition sounds like a whole lot of nope.

Thank you. I am also a physical book guy but know a lot of people are in your position and a Kindle / iPad is preferable for travel. Makes perfect sense!

Just FYI the audiobook version of the Corbett Collection Vol 1 (Man-Eating Leopard of Rudraprayag and My Kumaon) should be available soon. It is at final review on Audible and Apple Books.

For anyone who is interested, The Corbett Collection Volume 1 is now (finally!) available on audiobook.

I'm really late to the African safari world having done my first in 2023 at 70 years old. But, I've really embraced reading Ruark, Capstone, and others. Currently almost finished reading "When a Crocodile Eats The Sun". Already finished Horn of the Hunter, Death...Long Grass; Lonely Land; Dark Continent; Silent Places.

Thanks to my friend Harold, who has hunted worldwide, ignited my interest, and got me to my first safari, one shelf has filled up quickly.
