Westley Richards

Scott,

Thank you, I have only had it for 3 months, I have not even fired it yet or mounted the scope. I fully intend to use this rifle for what it was made to do. I am going to do the one rifle thing. I have done the multiple rifle/double thing but at this stage of my life I just want to do the one rifle approach And do it with something nice. I have been to the Ume River Camp in Zimbabwe many years ago, my first, and plan to go back on Safari again. Not sure what country yet though, but this time a truly wild place would be a must. I would also like to do a coastal brown brown bear hunt from a nice boat type hunt. have to make the wife happy too. She has always wanted to see the wilds of Alaska.

JP,
I figured that you would use this rifle and I am glad you confirmed as much. I cannot wait to read your hunting report from the wilds of Africa where you used this rifle! If you want any suggestions on wild areas that would be up to the standard of a maiden voyage for this incredible rifle, let us all know. I can definitely think of a few.

As for a boat-based brown bear in Alaska, I would highly recommend Dale Adams of Adams Alaska Safaris. Dale has an incredible 58’ boat and top notch equipment. I have worked for several outfits in Alaska for boat-based brown bear and Dale’s areas and Dale, himself, are at the top. He is a great hunter, host, guide and captain, whose company you and your wife would both enjoy. Send me a PM if you want his contact information.

Congrats again,
Scott

It has a tiger wood beautiful lines about it. The oil rubbed finish really brings out the character of the wood! I am guessing high grade walnut?
Rare Breed,

Yes, but honestly I do not know what type of walnut. Photos do not do it justice in my opinion. When you rub your hand over the wood it just has a super smooth, not sure how to say it, and a warmth to it that is hard to describe.

Regarding Westley Richards hunting clothing. I called to see if their shirts sizes work for tall people. I was assured they do, but after ordering their Campaign Shirt I can report that they are not made to fit tall people (too short to stay tucked in). The sizing is also similar to KUIU sizing in that it runs a size smaller than say Carhartt does. And speaking of the Campaign Shirt it is a terrible hunting shirt as it is very noisy. Might work for sitting in a blind but that's it.

On to the Westley Richards Safari Trousers. These are fantastic, and totally quiet. If you want upscale hunting pants I haven't found better. Sizing is very close to Carhartt so no complaints there. The inseam is a fixed size of 33" so short folks will probably need them shortened. Pockets are closed by buttons which is excellent in my opinion (velcro is the worst due to the noise factor, snaps may or may not be noisy). There is an ingenious second fastener for the waist which is important if the primary closure is a button (so it doesn't carry the strain from the belly)- just be careful and look how if fastens and unfastens before putting the pants on. There are two additional front pockets that close by zipper. The only downside is of course the price. But for upscale these are fantastic. I love em.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
