For some time I have been battling the pros and cons of buying a 404 Jeff. The angel said I shouldn't and the devil said ,"Go for it." After searching every website I could find without success, I went for it and called MRC. The call was to check on the delivery date for my 30-06 I bought at the SCI show in January.

Great news. It shipped today so I should have it by Friday. More good news, I got to talking with Rob about the African and wound up ordering one. Not so good news--it won't ship for about four months which will be sometime in August.

I am prepared, though. I have dies, brass and bullets so I can load some. Just have to get the gun.

Nice to see that you utilized the age ol' technique of easing into an unnecessary, but completely understandable, new rifle purchase! ;):) Congrats!

Congratulations on your ‘06. I’m sure you’ll like it as well as I like my MRC .338 RUM.
I like your spirit... Just go for it! The .404 J is such a classic. Sorry to hear it will take four months though.

Congrats on the ‘06....and the .404! Can’t wait to see pictures of both.

Good for you Newboomer! Carpe Diem! Can’t take it with you and dreaming about one doesn’t keep the powder manufacturers in business. Can’t wait to hear a review of your 404. No doubt you are going to love your ‘06!
Cheers,
Cody

You only go around once!

That is a very useful combination NB. Good to see the venerable 404 becoming as important among hunters as it deserves to be.

Thanks, Guys.
I've wanted a 404 Jeff for over a year now but couldn't quite take the plunge. It's one of those need and want things. You want it , you don't need it but you need to satisfy the want. This gives me a perfect reason to go back to Africa next year. I have to indoctrinate my new boomer ( no pun intended). And it will be a perfect partner for my new 06. Y'see, there's a method to my madness. Now I am a bonafide member of the 404 Club.

Congratulations on taking the plunge into the 404. I'm waiting on mine as well, ordered it about a month ago. If it takes 4mo so be it, I know the MRC will be worth the wait. I have a Swarovski Z6 (extended eye relief model) on hot standby.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike
