Well boys, what's your temperature like now?

We made it to 50 today, most of the snow is gone so we’re just dealing with the slop now.

Was -11F up to -4F for several nights and 10F-15F days for the entire week. Now balmy 20s days for a few before the polar vortex winds down again...Ask me about myriad heating system fuels/sizing/efficiency! (Nothing beats wood if you have it.) 'Just got off the phone w/ a contractor doing work for me at the farm-he wishes to re-prioritize based on the above and immediately re-do the heating system to wood furnace with oil or gas backup and a mixture of radiant and low-profile in-wall and ceiling heaters. It currently has same but the units are old/tired. Glenwood makes one that can burn just about anything!

Another mid twenties night in the Deep South…..I hate it. Once Christmas is over there is no need for winter. Bring on boating weather!

The fire dept where I work use stihl saws and I have no complaints about them. But last spring I bought a battery operated dewalt to help with my fruit tree pruning. It fits in my daypack and was a fantastic partner for setting up a couple treestands. I like it so much I cut most of my firewood with it and used it to cut down my Christmas tree. -not made
For every job but better than I expected for many jobs. Bought it on Amazon.
So easy my wife can use it!

Also, 20 years as a fireman has taught me afew things about chimney fires. Do NOT burn cardboard or large amounts of papers in there! Any chimney requires routine cleaning, no matter what you burn. Most I have been on have gotten hot from burning creosote and started the wood framing of the house on fire-or more commonly household items stored too close to the piping/brickwork

God bless you all who are enduring unusual weather, hope you make it through unscathed.

Yesterday the local gamekeepper asked me to take pic as "a camouflage champion". About zero in January - we sometimes have it, but without snow - this was never happened.

At the moment it's 30-something F. There is supposed to be some ice and snow and sleet this evening and overnight, when I'm at work. I'm just hoping I can get to work before it happens too much, and that it doesn't mess up my car.

And that I get to go on home in the morning and not stay at the detention center on my day off...
Oh yeah uh...

Yeah it snowed. There's STILL snow out there in patches. And I had to stay/work on my day off. But they let us go on Thursday. Just one more night and I get another two off...

It was a chilly start in Nashville this week. Flight was delayed coming back, put me home at about noon and it was warm enough to enjoy a cigar in shorts and a t-shirt on my deck..... :-)

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
