I may regret posting this, but will deal with weeding out scammers to try it. I've been trying to grab one of these online deals I have been seeing in the $700-800 range and just can't seem to land one. Would prefer stainless (the grey would be ok), looking at the 7.5" barrel just because the Alaskan is likely to be a handful and not much fun to shoot in this, although I do like the looks of it better. Looking for the .480 because I have all the stuff to reload for it including new brass and a lot of bullets. If anyone has one laying around they decided they didn't want after shooting it and would be willing to part with it for reasonable money, let me know. As part of the scammer issue, if you are not a long standing member and/or have no transaction history, I will require the gun to be sent to a local dealer before payment is made. All you have to do is include a note with the gun saying they need to wait for confirmation of payment to release it. It would be illegal for them to let me have it and would lose their FFL if they did. Safe for both sides.
The other option I have is to sell/trade the 480 reloading components towards a Glock 40, so if there is interest there we can talk as well. I would very much prefer the revolver at this point, but the hi-cap 10mm is tempting.

Be very careful of the scammers!
I had a few 10mm Glock 40 Longslides and love But my 4 5/8" SS Ruger Bisley .480 is the shit!!
I like the Redhawks too...The Alaskan 480 which I had a few are great too...You will find them on Gunbroker and other sites...24hr campfire is the busiest site of all and if you post your needs in the classified section you may find one..Good Luck!

Yup, got hit once and that's all it took. Even pics with name and date don't cut it anymore! I usually post here first as I know more of the people on here, then do so at the fire if need be.

@Albert GRANT just a bit of advice, if you see a Ruger Super Redhawk in 480 listed in the $700-800 range, it is probably a scam. That's based on my viewing of 48 episodes of "Columbo."

Seriously, they seem to be more in the $1000+ range.

I just bought a 10mm (Springfield XDM) and have been pleasantly surprised with the shootability of the gun. Granted, it does not have the 44 mag or 480 stopping power, but I can put 15 rounds on target and my hands don't feel abused, even after 100 rounds.

That is indeed the average, however there have been 5 or so over the last few weeks that have sold on there in that range.

My local Cabelas (Thornton CO) has a 7.5” and 9.5” used right now. I don’t remember the prices.

These are some of the examples. With the GB 15min rule, I always end up losing patience as the aution goes on for hours longer than scheduled and end up missing them. The last one went un-sold- unfortunatey this was just before I started looking.
@375 Ruger Fan I do like the 10mm, used to have a glock 20 with a 6" wolf barrel that shot really well. Was tempted to shoot a Moose with it at about 6 paces, but he was too young and I held off, which turned out to be the right choice, but required an 80yd shot with a rifle, so I didn't get to see how well it would work. Just have a revolver kick right now, and the stuff needed for the 480.

I really like Rugers, but have never been crazy about the looks of the Super Redhawk with the longer barrels. Just looks like an add-on. I love the looks of a Redhawk with a 4 inch barrel.

Agree 100% which is why I prefer the look of the Alaskan. Unfortunately the 480 is only the Alaskan or the Super. Would love to see it in the 4in Red or even a full lug 4.5-5" super

You’ve got options…Hamilton Bowen GP conversion. He fits a GP-style barrel to a Super Alaskan, but it will blow the budget out.

Yeah, just looking for one to play with, definitely not dumping a lot on it, hence the searching around for a deal on what is out there.

I own a Ruger Super Redhawk (454 Casull) and wouldn't recommend one to my worst enemy. If you want a double action in 480 Ruger then you haven't many options. However if you would be happy with a single action, then consider a BFR in 480/475. Way better quality.

What are the problems you have with it? The casull is brutal anyway, the .480 is supposed to be a bit milder

It's not $800 but it's BNIB and it's in stock.

Yeah can find them all day in that range. If I had a specific need for it, I'd just go with one of these, but since it's more for fun than anything I'll wait on the best possible deal or move on to the Glock 10mm, which although not as cool, would prove to be much more practical. Appreciate it though!

I've owned both 454C and 480 Ruger in Ruger SBH Bisley. The 454C is a lot snappier than the 480 Ruger. I preferred shooting the 480 over the 454C. The only handgun I've owned that was in the same recoil neighborhood as the 454C was a 460S&W. Mine was the 8.5" X-frame. I got rid of all my thumpers. They were just range toys and I had no intention of hunting with them or carrying them in the field. I enjoyed owning all of them and shooting them was a literal blast.

My Father has Super Redhawks in 480 Ruger and 44 mag and he has told me a few times he far prefers to shoot the 480 over the 44. Claims the 44 is a kick and the 480 more of a push. The tough part he has is ammo for the 480. Unfotunately he doesn't reload. At 83 and with some shoulder issues he doesn't use either much anymore but I doubt he's in a selling mood.

Well, if you happen to reload and want to get into it for him, I might sell you everything you need to do it except powder and primers.....Depends on what happens over the next few days

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
