Wanted Rigby Or Mauser

I took it that is a Mauser m98, not a Rigby Highland Stalker. I understand it's the same action. But not the same gun.
Yes, my rifle is a Mauser.

Thanks Bob! they're actually german claw mounts and she'll take 4 in the gut. Feeds like an absolute dream. 10.2lbs with out the glass and 11.6lbs with, just about right. Well balanced. Its got all the fancy pants appointments without being engraved. Absolute score with the Z6I EE.

VERY Nice! Is that the one that was recently at Cabela’s? And I believe Champlin’s before that?
Thank you, Sir. Thats the one. I called and talked to George at champlins about it and he told me I should get it. He spoke very highly about that particular rifle and told me in his opinion the Dumoulin imperial magnum action and the new mauser magnum action are the best magnum actions around, high praise from a guy like him. The fella at cabela's gave me 5% for military and with some convincing, didn't charge tax because I'm out of state in Texas, so it was a great deal.

Very nice rifle - I talked to guys at Cabelas about it early this month. They were dropping the price 10% in February (weird 6 month rule at some Cabelas gun rooms), and I was thinking of buying it then - so, good snag.

I appreciate all the help folks. I ended up scoring a very nice Dumoulin Imperial Magnum Sovereign in 416 rigby.

Gorgeous rifle! I’d love to see some more close ups of the action and the safety and cocking piece.

That is one nice rifle and being a Dumoulin you can be sure fit, feeding and accuracy will be perfect.

Now take it to Africa and put it to the test.

Sorry to bother, but could you send a close up picture of the safety. Is it a 3 position safety?

I believe you can still press down after 4 and load a fifth in the tube without forcing the claw extractor. Mine can do this.

It is a 3 position safety. This 3 position, is very reminiscent of my english made arctic warfare rifles. I'll take more pictures when the sun comes up.
Lon, it definitely feeds slicker than greased owl shit. I'll find out about accuracy tomorrow. it will for sure be going to Zim the first chance I get, unless I get a crackin good deal somewhere else but Zim is a priority for me. I need to be a Man among Men.

5 rounds of 416 Rigby? This thing is awesome!

I may need one in 505 Gibbs or even anything Rigby;)
Yeah 5 rounds total in these imperial magnum actions, without having to jump the extractor over the rim.

I usually only put 4 though, either solids only or softs only, with the possibility, if the situation presents itself, to add another round as necessary.

But yes, 5 rounds of .416 Rigby, it weighs the rifle a lot, but you feel loaded to the gills with this. As well as that butter butter smooth action. Just a joy.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.
