WANTED: Lion Hunting

How many lions does a hunter normally see on a SA lion hunt? I know almost all are released but are they released one at a time for incoming hunters or are several out roaming the property? Lion is a big one for me but only under the right circumstances.
We saw 5 males in my area last week and then took this one at the end of the day.

Wow nice! That is a dandy. No scruffy fuzz on him.

was that a captive bred/raised lion in RSA? When you say you saw 5, was that in a typical enclosed area and how big?

Is that the norm or was it an exception to see 5 males?

Not always the norm, but in one area i hunt we need to release the lion 3 months and longer, this area we do have lion for 6 months, the client did even witness 3 males taking down a buffalo bull on the last night of the hunt, yes the lion is a captive bred lion but same thing he was in the area for 6 months, this area is about 8000 acres we did hunt 7 days full and only did see lion twice. Not counting the one he took. I do have one more male like the one he took and then 3 more but more blond in this area, together with buffalo, rhino and many more.

There are also some "Wild Lion" Hunts in SA. Where they are not released after been bred. These are generally around the Kruger area. We do have some of those available for 2015.

Hello, My wife and I hunted with Marius 2 years ago. He fit us into his schedule after a different outfitter "bailed" on us. He was always very good with communications and although we didn't end up meeting him personally, he called us multiple times during our hunt to make sure things were going well. We were very happy with him.

Reach out to the guys at Epic Outdoors.

They will steer you right for landowner tags and outfitters that have them.

I have held a membership with them for years and they are an invaluable resource.

Way better that asking random people on the internet...WAY better

Skydiver386,

Did you ever find your 30-06 CZ550? I own a fairly solid conditioned one, if you wanted to talk.
