WANTED: Hunting Packages 2017

To everyone looking for more details, it would be a 2:1 hunt for some guys for their first time to Africa. Looking for giant kudu and warthog, other plains game a +. Do not want a high fenced "canned" hunt.

Thanks

Check out Iliwa Safaris.
We went with them in 2013 and I have another trip planned. They were excellent and had very high quality animals that are not trucked in on a huge property they have owned for 5 generations. They were also not high priced. I am not a broker or anything like it. I just am a hunter without a lot of extra cash.
Thanks I'll check them out

Just remember if your looking for big kudu you want to hunt the areas with greater kudu. East cape kudu tend to be 45 to 50" with 50" being a monster. Still fun to hunt but so many guys see the cheaper cape kudu fee and think they are getting the same thing. Your greater kudu will start at 50" normally and go from there with most falling in the 50 to 54" range.

We don't do canned hunts but most is high fenced. Big warthogs are some of the hardest animals to get but can be had with some luck. Good luck with your search though

Hi turenorth1,

On my first trip to Africa I was disappointed to drive up to the ranch and find out it was high fenced. That said, after the hunt was all said and done, I had zero, zip, nada, remnants of regret from the ranch being high fenced. There was nothing, and I do mean nothing, canned about the hunt. The animals were wild (freakin' wild actually) and if really spooked an animal could run 5 miles in one direction (actually on the ranch I hunted an animal could run way more than 5 miles in one direction without hitting a fence). So, I would suggest to not worry too much about a high fence operation - just make sure the enclosed area is large AND that there is no 'put-and-take' happening.

Truenorth1,

From my perspective the biggest difference between fenced and non fenced safaris is not anything to do with the hunting experience but the number of days per trophy taken. A well managed fenced property will have more animals in most cases. On some free range hunts I've been on recently (3 in 13 months!) it can take 3 days, or more, hunting per trophy taken. So keep that possible scenario in mind. If you only have 7 days to hunt what is your goal in your that timeframe?
Regards,
Philip

It looks like you've gotten lots of offers. I wouldn't concern myself over hunting "canned" meat in a high fence area. Most of the South African concessions where I hunted were 10,000 acres (15 square miles) or more, certainly more than enough for any animal to run, escape and or evade.

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.
