Hi All,
I am looking to write a story about an outfitted adventure in RSA. I am looking for a place with good fly fishing. I have heard that there are ranches with very special trout waters below property dams. To add to the possibilities I am also looking for a monster trophy. It really doesn't matter what species. I am looking to create a story that is authentic and coveys the real safari experience that Africa is known for. That a "string"(Bow and fly rod) approach can be wonderful. I have enclose images of my most recent article that is featured in Fly Rod and Reel. I am not looking for anything free. I am looking for the correct setting .( of course competitive pricing is always appreciated).

Thanks-Jerry

Hi Jerry, can help you on both counts. Have a area that holds some very, very good numbers of rainbow in dams and streams up in the mountains. Have completed a few Mcnabs there. The same area has several good bow blinds. Let me know and I will drop you a PM. All of this will take place in the Eastern Cape.

Best regards
Tokkie

Hi Tokkie,
do you have a website?

Now this would surely be an interesting one, Bow Hunt and Fly fish
I am looking for the correct setting
However I would not say it would be the correct setting when it comes to the Trout fishing.
Since the Bow Hunt is in Africa and you will be hunting a native species with your bow you might as well keep it original by fly fishing for Tiger fish as Trout is not native to Africa.

Just my two cents.

I agree with Bossie, tiger or yellowfish.

Hi All,
Indeed that would be more "native". The truth is that trout have been transplanted far and wide because we love them. It is this love that makes them both universally understood and commercially viable. I certainly could "add" the native species and would consider it in a proposal if someone could make it happen. Unfortunately a story with trout (also char and salmon) has a far greater chance to get published. As a writer that is the thing. If you look at the cover of outdoor magazines (less specie specific publications and hunting only publications) you will see that salmonids being the Lion's share. After that some bass and then once and a great while something else.

thanks-Jerry

Jerry just so happens there is a pretty nice bass dam a ways up the road;) The cold mountian water in the area makes a exceptional habitat for the trout. As you know crystal clear water presents its own challenge, presentation is everything, have had a few nice trout rise from the deep pools just to turn away at the last moment.

Light leaders and careful casts! :)

Some guys are soooo needy. Bow hunting is not enough...they have to have Trout too. LOL

Either way sounds fun and I hope one of these guys can help you out!

Bow hunting a Buffalo , catching a Tiger Fish on Fly and shooting an Ostrich on the run -- does that count as a Mcnab ? :D

Have done the Tiger fish on fly, did the Ostrich too, but Buff with a bow could be a nice addition(y)

Fished on hunts I did in SA.....

Spent a few days near Dullstroom for trout.

And two at Jozini Dam for some bass. Tied a few flies from a guinea I shot on the wing the day before and caught bass on them. That was fun.

Also caught small rising yellowfish on #22 BWO's in some ponds where we hunted.

Like to add some saltwater next time and have even thought of skipping the hunting and do a sightseeing and fishing in several places for one trip.

Hmmmn an ornery trouble making buff. Has possibilities. o_O

Hello, My wife and I hunted with Marius 2 years ago. He fit us into his schedule after a different outfitter "bailed" on us. He was always very good with communications and although we didn't end up meeting him personally, he called us multiple times during our hunt to make sure things were going well. We were very happy with him.

Reach out to the guys at Epic Outdoors.

They will steer you right for landowner tags and outfitters that have them.

I have held a membership with them for years and they are an invaluable resource.

Way better that asking random people on the internet...WAY better

Skydiver386,

Did you ever find your 30-06 CZ550? I own a fairly solid conditioned one, if you wanted to talk.
