Wanted 404 Jeffery For Safari Or 300 Rum

Cogswell and Harrison are English builders for over 200 years. If the rifle was used in Rhodesia, they became Zimbabwe in 1980 + or - a couple of years. The rifle is likely much older but may still be a good deal if already in the U.S. If it is in Africa or England, expect another $1000 dollars in cost to get it to you. If these English guns and rifles have been taken care of they are good for another 100 years in many cases. If it were used by game scouts, it may be in less than desirable condition. But I would sure look into to it. If it's in good shape, expect around $3000 and possibly much higher. In more recent years, the company has changed hands many times and the new rifles are not the same in quality or value as the old IMO! Good luck with your decision and purchase.

Agree,if the 404 C&H has been previously been used a game scout one would need to take a long hard look before you decide. Not to say that every game scout did not take pride in his weapon and the care thereof.

Welcome Baldi59. If my historical information is incorrect, please correct it for myself and everyone else on the site that may be interested. I get my information from books, and there is no guarantee it's correct!

As previously mentioned by another member on the forum who suggested you could consider 416 Rigby.I second that. The 416 is a weapon of choice amongst many hunter and Pro Hunters alike for a valid reason. However good luck in obtaining a decent 404J if that is your ultimate choice.

Built the one in avatar from a 416 Rem mag rebarreled to 404 when you do mag box grind off two projections on sidewall holds 3down no other mods needed

Thank you, if nothing else comes up this may be what I do. Appreciate it.

That RSM in a 404 Jeffrey is dreamy, I'd be all over it if I didn't have my .416 Rem.

I have both the .404 Jeffery and the .416 Rigby. I can't say which I prefer - love them both - although if forced, I might have to give a slight edge to the .404. Almost as much power as the .416, but as much as you would need for anything, and a bit less kick.

The only negative to these rifles is that you keep looking for hunts to justify taking them along. And that can get expensive!

Hello, My wife and I hunted with Marius 2 years ago. He fit us into his schedule after a different outfitter "bailed" on us. He was always very good with communications and although we didn't end up meeting him personally, he called us multiple times during our hunt to make sure things were going well. We were very happy with him.

Reach out to the guys at Epic Outdoors.

They will steer you right for landowner tags and outfitters that have them.

I have held a membership with them for years and they are an invaluable resource.

Way better that asking random people on the internet...WAY better

Skydiver386,

Did you ever find your 30-06 CZ550? I own a fairly solid conditioned one, if you wanted to talk.
