Wanted 375 H&H Rifle

Another brand to look at is Dakota. Especially ones made prior to 2006. After that they were owned by Remington and quality took a hit for a while. They went out of business along with Remington, not sure who bought them or if production has resumed.

Lastly I’ll mention Kimber as others have. I saw a Talkeetna on GB for $3500 last weekend. Stainless and synthetic for all weather conditions. Perfect rifle if you aren’t into blued & walnut.
Sounds like they’re out for good but plenty of used ones out there. Most I’ve seen are a little higher lately but have seen some in that price range. That Kimber is nice

You can't go wrong with a Model 70 Safari Express in 375 H&H. New will be about $1700. Spend the rest of your budget on a great Leupold scope. A VX6-HD 1-6x24 will be about $1200, plus shipping and scope rings, etc. The rest of your budget will be taken up by ammo. Be prepared for $150 or more for a box of good big game ammo. Also, be prepared to wait for the rifle and scope. Backordered at most online sites. Good luck!

Been thinking about selling one of mine. Zastava with a Leupold VX-R 2-7x33, quick detach rings
$1,300

@ Mike Van Horn-

By the grip cap, that looks like the original Zastava stock. What sort of finish have you applied? Looks gorgeous! I have one that I am going to slim down and checker, and was trying to decied how to finish it. Again, I must say that this is beautiful!

I would suggest a Ruger RSM - I’ve owned a Caprivi, talkeetna and the RSM in 375. they will all get the job done but I actually prefer the feel of the action and of the Ruger RSM over the kimbers. The factory Talkeetna didn’t fit me well, was very light which resulted in an unpleasant experience - plus it was stainless (prefer a dark matte finish) easily remedied if it’s the rifle you really wanted.

Also One of the members here - Krish - was thinking of parting with a RSM, maybe he still has one he would sell? And just wanted to mention Krish is a stand up guy - no fear of getting hosed on a scam, I bought a rifle from him recently.

Not sure what your budget or preference is but I have this one up for sale here. Very high quality European made:

That's good info for me to hear. I have shot several Caprivis and wanted one terribly to match my Kimber 300 WSM. But I couldn't find one in over a year of looking. I bought a Ruger RSM several weeks ago and have been very pleased with it so far. It is heavier than the Caprivi and most of it is in the barrel, but it is very pleasant to shoot off sticks and the added weight seems to make it settle into shooting sticks like they were a range bag. Very steady.

@MAdcox - The kimbers are fine rifles but it is just a personal preference on the balance and feel of the action. The triggers on all of them were good. I still have several kimbers but IMO I enjoy the Ruger more and also thinks it is a better value. There are plenty of kimber Caprivi owners who may disagree and that is totally fine - that’s why there are so many different brands and models to choose from. I hope everyone finds the rifle they enjoy

Should be able to get an R8 for that budget and move into the 21st Century. :)

won’t leave $$ for a scope though.
I thought about that and talked about it with some of the guys on here, I have been totally convinced as to how excellent the R8s are, but there’s just something about the traditional looking rifles that I can’t get past!

Thanks, the gun is just the way l bought it, other than the recoil pad. The rifle shoots great

I distinctly recall paying a lot more. Not sure what I’m missing but seems a good deal
That is a really good deal. But not to be outdone as an enabler...why not a 300WM/375H&H combo with a Pelican case!
