Thanks for the offer doc but at 10K wouldn't want to have to add funds into a rebarrel
A 280 Rem Model 10 would be worth a lot more than one in a proprietary dakota caliber. If you haven't owned a Model 10, they are a joy to carry and nothing feels better in the hand. That being said, they cater to "the gentleman's calibers" where heavy for caliber bullets and mild recoil are popular. The most valuable model 10s are in calibers like 6.5x55, 6.5x54ms, 7x57, 257 roberts, 250-3000 savage, 280 remington, etc.
Inversely, the Model 10 is a MISERABLE gun to shoot in the potent calibers. I would not wish to own one in a dakota caliber, nor in 28 nosler, or 300 winmag, etc, etc. I had one in 300H&H which is a wonderful caliber, but the rifle kicked the snot out of me so I sold it immediately after my first safari. (used it for a giraffe and was done with it)
My daily driver is a Model 10 in 7x57, its about as close to perfection as I can imagine for a do-all rifle.
My advice would be to get the one in 280 Remington and give up on the dakota proprietary cartridges. You won't like what you buy if you go in that direction.
