Want To Buy Buffalo Rifle

@Tikkamike here is the info on the other rifle:

For sale is a beautiful dangerous game rifle from Empire in .416 Rigby in their Standard Model. It has a very nice, straight grained piece of walnut with an undulating wave to it, good light / dark contrast, ebony fore end, classic English lines, hand cut checkering, tasteful knurling on the bolt handle. All of the fine aesthetic details. It also features Empire’s own proprietary double square bridge Mauser 98 style action (Empire 98S Mauser), three position Winchester style flag safety, adjustable rear express sight, hooded front sight, and a front barrel band. I find the gun well balanced with a solid “between the hands” feel. Have only shot it off hand less than 10 times and I do not believe it was fired before me. It performed well in my simple minute of buffalo tests. Have not developed a load or mounted a scope yet.

It has been to Matrix Gunsmithing where a new CZ magazine was installed, stock glass bedded, metal cerakoted, adjusted the feed ramp to the new magazine, and feed and function were confirmed. The barrel is stamped only “416” but Matrix did chamber cast to confirm it is a .416 Rigby. It needed a little more work after getting it back from Matrix so I sent it to Bailey Bradshaw. He took the gun apart, did a full deep dive, replaced, repaired a number of small parts including the bolt release spring, and made a new bolt release lever and extractor.

You can now purchase this gem for less than it cost new when they could still be had new in 2011. My guess is that this would have cost $8,500 then and at least 50% maybe even twice as much now. I am asking $6,495 for the rifle plus shipping to your FFL.

You won't find a better person to deal with than @Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy , nor a better rifle for the $6,500 price! The double square bridge Empire action, strong and nicely figured stock with the grain flowing through the wrist, long and straight bolt handle, 3-position safety, and chambered in the very versatile do-it-all .416 Rigby, it is perfect for the man with one gun!

Add to the above is this fine rifle was inspected, repaired, and fine-tuned by AH member and custom gun maker @Bailey Bradshaw , https://bradshawgunandrifle.com/ .

This is the type and quality of rifle I wrote of in this thread, https://www.africahunting.com/threads/dreaming-of-a-double-rifle.91624/

This Empire .416 Rigby is easily a $8,500+ rifle available for $6,500. That money won't buy but a entry-level double rifle of questionable quality. It will however buy a very high quality bolt action magazine rifle with more than adequate power for all dangerous game. Additionally, the .416 Rigby loaded with 350 grain or lighter projectiles is excellent for plains game.

Between $2,000 for a new Model 70 or used CZ 550, or $10,000 to $20,000 for a top shelf magazine rifle, this Empire Rifle at $6,500 one of the best deals on the web.

One fine rifle that can do it all for the rest on one's life.

It is funny to at first think $6500 sounds like a lot of money. UNTIL you bring up a DR.

Then you instantly realize that $6500 in a DR buys you problems and an opportunity to lose money.

Or own a product of quality for only $6500.

also, every year from now on the dollar will buy less. 10 years from now, guys will be lamenting that they remember when $6500 bought a high quality rifle.

Would a Dave Norin Mauser in 404 Jeffrey be of interest?
404 Jeffery if you desire a bolt action is the best giving you more flexibility for even larger animals. I have owned both 375 and 404 and to me the 404 is superior just my experience

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
