The search for a 9.3x62mm bolt action continues. Prefer backup irons but not a deal breaker. Bolt speed and smoothness, and receiver quality over looks. Alaska bush gun, will get beat up in plane and brush.

I picked up a mannlicher-schönauer in 3006 to do a rebore to 9.3 but the rifle is too nice and it hurts my soul to bore it and beat it up. Would be interested in finding another slick action 3006 for a rebore if I can't find a 9.3. Ms, husky, etc.

I’d pick up a CRF M70 in ‘06 and rebore it.

I commend you, sir, for not altering a Mannlicher Schoenauer sporting rifle.
To unnecessarily rebore an M1924 would be a heinous act, an M1950 or later only a bit less of an offense.

The .30-'06 MS are sought after by those (particularly in the U.S.) who have ready access to and familiarity with that round, know of the qualities of the MS, but have limited access to nor interest in metric cartridges.

All Mannlicher Schoenauers in original, unaltered, condition are highly collectible and valuable.

I have an M1910 (9.5X57 - .375 Nitro Express Rimless) Takedown Model for which I reload.

If you'd like to have a Mannlicher Schoenauer that you can beat up with impunity and have it eager for more, find a surplus Y1903 action, rough and ugly, and build a sporter around it with stock, scope, and furniture appropriate to its intended use.

The 'Greek Contract' Y1903, Y1903/14, Y1903/1914/1927 'Breda' and 'System 1930' had the very same 'action' as the venerable M1903 Mannlicher Schoenauer. All were chambered in the still available and highly regarded 6.5X54MS.

To convert any Mannlicher Schoenauer to accept and cycle another cartridge, however, involves modifying Otto Schoenauer's precisely machined rotary magazine and housing to accept and cycle the new cartridge with the legendary smoothness and reliability that it had with its intended cartridge prior to alteration .

That is an act better left to magicians and sorcerers.

There are a couple offered presently on Gun Broker, including a Ruger Hawkeye, which I have and like (although I added a better recoil pad - Rugers have the cheesiest pads on the planet!) However, unlike Guns International, Gun Broker is charging sales tax on all transactions based on buyer's home state. Plus again, unlike GI, it is much harder to contact the sellers directly. Caveat: this is not an endorsement of GI; just a word to the wise.

PS: If you must have a Mannlicher Schoenauer in 9.3X62, there is one offered currently on GI for $12,500! As an aside, I would love to have one in 458 Win Mag - a few were produced but have never seen one offered for sale, and if so, the price no doubt would likewise be through the roof. Don't we just love the collectors out there.

If you see one let me know. Not too many floating around.

Never seen one in Zambia but doubt it would be much help to you if I did...probably more of the same carbine but in full stock versions floating around...

Blaser R8 Professional comes in 9.3x62 I think, and with iron sights.

There is a Ruger Hawkeye African in 9.3x62 at Cabelas Buda for 1299. Pretty sweet handling rifle.

An acquaintance of mine happens to have one of the CZ550's with the synthetic stock in 9.3x62 with scope, dies, brass and projectiles.

He lives in New Orleans, LA. PM me and I'll pass his contact info to you.

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
