Want To Buy 7mm 160gr or 175gr bullets - Swift A-Frame or Northfork

Wonder if jacket thickness is decreased enough in smaller bores to initiate quicker expansion thus no need for the PP version? Sort of along the lines of Aframe vs Heavy Aframe ( unless that’s just marketing hype).
This is correct. The SS in our smaller bore offerings have the proper jacket thickness to expand fully in thin skinned game, thus having no need for small caliber PP versions. The breakover point here is at .366 and .375.....The .366 300gr SS has the jacket thickness for buff, but the 250gr more for thin skin. 375 cal is where we start the SS and PP designations for soft points of the same weight offering. I hope this makes things more clear! ~Jay North Fork

Thank you @North Fork Technologies for supporting this forum and your customers. Your website doesn’t offer any load data for 7mm cartridges. Could you please publish the 7x57 load data on your website, respond to my email, or post it here?

Many thanks.
We do not currently have a load data sheet for the 7x57. We are working to grow our load database, but as you can see we certainly don't have every cartridge offering that one may need. I would be happy to help you directly in making a recommendation. I have assisted many others here on AH with load development both for published and unpublished cartridges. ~Jay North Fork

I can utilize 160gr load data from one of the published books, but I don't know the pressure spikes that North Fork SS will create. Which competitor's bullet technology would you recommend I compare to? Swift A-Frame? Barnes TTSX? Nosler Partition?

Appreciate that clarification

Rookhawk, I’ve got load data or the 160 grain SS when I loaded for that cartridge. I’ll send you what I have this evening. As far as a “compare to” manual I have used the Swift manual and Woodleigh manuals with good results.

Wonderful insights. I'm a dyed in the wool A-Frame fan but I wondered whether it would be too much of a good thing in a 7x57 for North America and smaller plains game. I've heard wonderful things about Northforks but I'm always skeptical of new things. The significant testimonials have convinced me to try them in the 7x57 to see if I can get a bit better expansion at lower terminal velocities so I don't have to build multiple loads for a rifle.
Hi @rookhawk,

I spoke with owners son at Swift at the DSC in Atlanta, I too am looking for the 160 grain 7mm A-Frames to hand load for fellow AHer. The son promised they would be running a production run in the next few months, so just maybe there will be some in the market place soon.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]
