I know this is a long shot to ask for but need 400 Whelen dies & or other components. The dies need to be the orginal G & H or as some say Petrov specs. ( .458 shoulder ) .
Thanks, Dale.

Why? Pheroze can hook you up with a .400 H and H? I know he has one. Contact him.

My guess is that those dies will have to be Custom made also brother. Its such a rare caliber, and cost prohibitive for me. Im not a handloader. I've considered it time and time again, but not going to happen.

I have not been on this site that long and was looking to see if there was any post on the 400 Whelen, and found this one. I bought my 400 whelen last year, was able to get brass and die s from the owner. Was just wondering how things have been going with your rifle. I had shoulder surgery last fall and was not able to hunt, but I have worked up some good loads. Hopefully this fall I can take some game with it.

You can get them from CD4D

CFE223 is all I have used for my 400 Whelen. I have not test any in my 35 Whelen. I have some Hawk bullets on order for both calibers. I have the 400 dies set up and am hoping the bullets come soon so I don't have to switch back and forth. If not I will go a head and work n some loads for the 35 so they will be done before hunting season. Witch means I need them in about 4 weeks at the latest.

Mate try it with the 250 grain Speer hotcore. Info one the Speer web site. I get 2,700fps with it. With the 225grain accubonds the old standby load of 60.5 grains of Varget will give you close on 2,850fps and if you want to use the 225gn Woodleigh pm me as I get 2,900++fps with it

I have some Speer 250gr'ers I will be testing, I have read good reviews on them and they are about the most affordable 35 caliber bullets available, so I'm hoping the do well in my rifles. I have some Sierra 225gr game kings and some Nosler 225gr. partitions two try with CFE223. I have somevery accurate loads with the NOsler Partitions and IMR 4064 but want to see how they do with CFE223.
I have shot a mule deer and an elk with Speer's 220gr. bullet and it did a fine job, so I think their 250's will be very good performers.

Hi Sunrise. I'll second CH4D. They usually have the G&H (Petrov) dies in stock. I picked up a 400 Whelen some months ago and Brian at CH4D has been a huge help. If you have a 35 Whelen you'll love the 400. Good luck!
