I have a friend who is restoring his Grandfathers old 30-06 from the 1960's or so and has a question on the scope mount and rings.

I have seen that type of rings before but I can't for the life of me remember just what they are.

Here are some pictures of it if any of you can help us out.

Don't look like Conetrol rings?

Those are the only pictures that he sent me.

To me it appears as if the top of the rings are smooth and the clamping is done down on the base mount. I'll ask him about the rings.

Doing a little bit more searching and there was a Winchester 88 scope base and rings that look similar but the base doesn't have what looks like a adjustment on the rear side of the mount.

The one ring without the stud does look like a Buehler.

I found the base, it is a Buhler Micro-Dial base so I am sure that the rings would be Buhler.

Thanks for some of the info. I had never heard of Buhler until you two mentioned it here.

Here is a link to the base that I am sure that he has.

Maynard Buehler of Orinda, CA. I doubt he is still in business. Good stuff.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
