Vertigo became a Pappa/Daddy

That’s awesome man… Kinda crazy but we just celebrated our daughter’s first birthday yesterday. She was born at 9:06 pm though

That is a big coincidence :) happy birthday for your daughter!

@Major Bonkers .... No... He'll be buying more, in lesser calibers and smaller configurations. Been there, done that, got two of my own (daughters).

@VertigoBE ... Congratulations. The only two pieces of advice I'd toss out now... Do not take a single moment for granted; the time goes by so very fast. I feel certain others have told you that already. It's so very true. The other thing is to roll with the punches. Along with the highs there are unavoidable lows. I am in Anchorage now. My youngest was in a plane crash (that Iliamna Lake one a week ago for those of you up here). We spent most of a day trying to find out if she was alive. (she is, and in relatively good shape) May your own highs vastly outnumber any lows. In very short order you won't remember you had a life before. I am extremely happy for you sir.

Congratulations on the addition to your life, you may want to start thinking about another addition but to your home and not a trophy room..... another bathroom. Girls have a habit of taking over a bathroom. I have 2 daughters and 3 bathrooms, had to join a gym so I could have a shower in the morning. Good luck and like the others have said enjoy every minute as they grow up so fast.

The above: there is tremendous wisdom in that answer. Well stated @cls.

That might be quite the possibility ;)

Very happy for you and your daughter, sir, that this story ends well. I had not heard about any plane crash, but then again I have not really seen a lot of news the last few days. Good to hear she will be coming out in relatively good shape.

Congrats to the new parents. With all the advise and wisdom mentioned by other AH members all I can offer is by plenty of security devises to secure cabinet doors and drawers and everything else, keep your ears open, and your head on a swivel for when cute little bundles of joy start walking, suddenly they become little demons. They learn quickly how to get into and climb on everything. And silence is no longer golden, it means they probably found something you didn't want or thought they could find.:barefoot::eek::Woot::love::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Congratulation on your bundle of joy. I know that if you are anything like me she will be "Daddy's Little Girl"! Like others have said savor every moment because she will be gone before you can blink

@VertigoBE Heartiest congratulations Jurgen to you and your wife for the little girl and the new adventure you are all going on together.

Congratulations @VertigoBE !!!

Just one question...did you figure out what caused it?!

Kidding aside, enjoy your lifelong journey!!

Aaahhh....yes.....I don't thing I read any advise on shift rotations.....those every 2 hour cries of I'm hungry, followed by the burp and the surprise look and whine cry I need my diaper changed 4+/- hours latter she goes to sleep and now it's Oh shit I have just a few minutes to maybe 1+ hours to get ready for work. And those sleeping in on the weekends are now gone few a few years. And suddenly you realize you miss those days when they were such tiny bundles.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::(:love::love::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Congrats on the new bundle. I can't offer any parenting advice but I have two nephews I'm very close to and it is amazing how fast they go from helpless lumps to little people with opinions and ideas. Cherish it all and make memories when and while you can.

Well, shift rotations sounds all kinds of nice, until one of you is a heavy sleeper, who after two seconds resting their head on the pillow is already snoring away, while the other is a light sleeper, who awakes each time and then takes 30min to sleep again :D :D :D :D (guess who I am :p )

But all things considered, she is doing mighty fine, we had 2 x 4hrs of consecutive sleep out of her (only issue is it began around 18:00 yesterday, which means that by 3 am, she was wide awake until 7 when we had to get up ;)

Just trying to lighten my fiancee's load as much as possible, so she'll consider a second in a year or two :E Rofl:

@CJW : thanks as well for the well wishes !

@Randy F : Not sure yet, but more testing of probable hypotheses will recommence shortly ;)

VertigoBE, was this a first-time performance or a repeat? Congratulations are in order regardless of the number. Before you know it, you will be looking at short stocks for one or more of your rifles. I'm not kidding, you'll see!!
This was a first-time performance, and it seems I had beginner's luck, because she is absolutely perfect in every way :)

Indeed, It'll give me a good reason to continue on looking for good gun deals for my future children :D

I grew up with a sister, so I have some inkling of comprehension what it means, when there was "one bathroom for the three kids"... :p

We just bought and moved into a new hous, which only has one bathroom, but we do count on doing some renovations, which will include an additional bathroom (for my fiancee and I) + a dressing for my fiancee, in exchange for a study/office/trophy room for me ;) a man needs a quite corner in the house for himself :D

Fully agree on securing the perimeter against any and all investigative quadrupeds :D

One of them will probably (in a few months/years) make a nice thread too for AH. On how to have kids growing up in a household where there are firearms. (I grew up in one strictly without). More especially, how to normalize them (so those "silent moments", where their curiosity is testing borders, are not immediately very dangerous) but not make them seem like toys. But I'll figure that one out some time later.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
