Verney-Carron Azur Safari .500NE Double Rifle For Sale

I offer to the marketplace this stunning Verney-Carron Azur Safari .500 Nitro Express double rifle. Based on rough internet research, I believe this rifle was crafted sometime around 2010, but the exact year I have been unable to determine. Please educate me in this regard, if you are able to. Serial # A1037 has 24-inch (almost) barrels w/ ejectors, brass-beaded blade front sight with auxiliary moon bead, sling swivel stud, quarter rib with fixed leaf and two folders engraved “50” and “100”. Features include a coin-finish receiver, reinforced side ribs, manual safety, articulated forward trigger, rolled guard and a trap door grip cap. STOCK: Absolutely gorgeous! Look at the prominence of the wood-grain! There is a slight palm-swell in the grip and a very small amount of cast, as pictured. It shoulders perfectly and instinctively with every eyes-closed attempt. ENGRAVING: Beautiful scroll engraving throughout the receiver and onto the proximal rib. Gold-colored inlay is present on the safety indicator and also on the face of the rear site. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 11 pounds, 3 ounces. Length-of-pull is approximately 14.75 inches from the forward trigger, and approximately 14 from the rear. REGULATION: Formally, it is unknown. However, I can tell you that it likes Federal Woodleigh Hydro Solid factory ammo, easily providing minute-of-elephant-brain accuracy with these rounds. The same result is also achieved with the ever-present Hornady DGX loads out to 40 meters, which is the farthest distance that I typically practice shooting with this rifle. I have found no factory loads to be meaningfully problematic in regard to accuracy, but I’m also not trying to shoot the knee-cap off of a bumble bee when I shoot this one. CONDITION: The bores are strong and bright. Barrels are full on face. Chambers are smooth. Lever rests well right. Ejectors kick out empties with authority. Trigger pulls are smooth. Blue is very nice and without significant issue or thinning throughout, other than some minor (subjective) flaws on the outside of the left barrel that were present when I purchased the rifle. These were touched up by my smith, but are still visible. Wood exceeds 97 percent in my opinion, with only small flaws visible. Some minor damage to the side of the forearm was previously repaired and is now imperceptible. INCLUSIONS: The pictured aftermarket takedown carry case is included. I bought this rifle to take an elephant with. Since that time, I have purchased 4 additional double rifles, also with the intent of using them to take elephant. My V/C 500 NE was an excellent rifle. I regret selling it at least once a week but it went to a forum member who has taken elephant with it. This one looks great. If you haven't handled V/C, they are great rifles.

@Green Chile, I purchased a 2nd V/C in .500NE. They are both exquisite, but one of them needs to go. I also bought back a Merkel .470 that I sold through this forum last year to/from the brother-in-law of @franzfmdavis. Additionally, I bought a beautiful old .450 3 1/4. And then there's the cool antique hammer rifle that I just bought.............
