Using J. Sipp to make 3 Blaser barrels and a suppressor….

Now it all makes sense. I had seen that item listed in places as discontinued so it looks to no longer be available in the US. SO, today, you can get a stock and transplant Blaser receiver/trigger unit to it, but can't get a new on including the receiver/trigger. Thanks!
Cool. I bought it from a gun auction this year. I love how traditional wood stocks looks, but the adjustment ability of more modern stocks is awesome too.

Update.

All barrels have been tested. All mounted into blaser r8 stock and receiver normally, all closed appropriately, and all grouped accurately.

Overall very happy with my experience.
Let’s see a picture of the 416 mounted on the rifle with suppressor.

Supressor still in jail. Here is a pic when I went for visitation. The external brake is removable. Ha.

It’s a reflex supressor so most of that goes over the barrel. Only 4” will protrude forward, plus the brake.

Here is the 375 Ruger barrel with another over the barrel suppressor, AB Raptor.

What do you get for sound suppression on that setup? How about recoil reduction? (Or just your perception and estimation)
What is the weight of that suppressor?
It weighs 8oz. I would say it drops the recoil down to about like a 30-06.

Bringing this thread back, if you use a custom barrel for the R8, that’s a calibre Blaser doesn’t offer, what do you do about mag inserts. I just grabbed a R8 in 300 win, but would rather have an H&H so I don’t have to load two different 300’s.

I would think that a 375 H&H insert would work for 300 H&H.

That’s what I thought as well, but I wasn’t sure how “specific” each insert is

It’s been years but I had him redo a Dakota 76. It was a nightmare. Not a peep for months at a time, completely unresponsive, uncommunicative.

We thought we were losing the rifle and any money. I was looking at taking him to court.

After way way way too much of that, I got a gorgeous rifle that works.

It has yet to do battle. but that’s coming.

There’s small thing pending, I’ve called, and…

Crickets.

Your story is very common. It just wasn’t my experience. Hopefully with his sons it has improved.

I wouldn't have him build me a paper airplane let alone a R8 barrel.

There are no American options that are proven for a aftermarket Blaser barrel.

Opposite of here in Europe. None will export.

Again. Had I listened to you I would not be shooting 4 barrels not made by Blaser that I have had no problems with.

Evolved ballistics making Akila shank plus proof barrels is also a fine option.

Your info is a bit dated and not backed by experience.

I don't trust anyone in America not using a Blaser or Akila barrel shank.

Until someone 100% unlocks the secret sauce with lots of verifiable evidence I am not going down this route.

I am glad I worked for you.

Also you did not listen to me, I never commented on this post until today.

Tip Burns at Texas Sporting Rifles has built me three R8 barrels using Akila extensions and Proof barrels:
.280AI
7PRC
7 Backcountry
All fit and function beautifully, all very accurate.

I certainly hope my straightforward, concise and strictly factual account doesnt qualify as vitriol.

One thing I didn’t mention is that it was my wife doing this for me. Let’s just say that there was considerable consternation.

That alone…

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
