I figured I would back up a trip I did a few years ago. July of 2020, South Dakota.
We loaded up the rifles, a Remington 700, a Colt 6724 and a Remington 783 varmint all shooting
Bulk Hornady 55 grain soft point ammo very well. All three guns are sub MOA at 100 yards.
Off we went in the RV the RV back to the Dakotas. This time however there is a day planned for varmint eradication.
Since we did not stay with Willie at his place, we met him at the location. He very accommodating and planned that days shoot so we only had about a hour drive. He did give us the preface that this was not his best place to shoot but we should be happy.
His directions were spot on.
When we arrived he had the benches set up and there was a total of 5 us shooting.
He gave some advice about dialing up and down on the scope, told us us as many of his shooting bags as we needed to build a comfortable rest, because we are gonna be here a while. He told me to put the spotting scope up it would not be needed.
He pointed out a pound at about 300 yards and told us don’t shoot any dogs closer than that.
I set up and took a peek through the scope, “Holy Crap they are everywhere.”
My rifles were zeroed for 250 yards.
I started shooting at 300 yards then worked out to about 450.
3 hours later it was lunch time. Thank goodness!
Willie had sandwiches and drinks for us, nothing fancy but it hit the spot.
That afternoon I started working further out, 500 to 650 yard range.
I would then switch up and shoot closer in. After about an hour I lost count on the clicks and just dialed. When I would come in closer I would dial back to the zero stop and start over.
4:00 pm rolls around and me and my buddy are eyeballing each other to see who is going to quit first. Willie finally called an end to the shooting.
We walked to where out longest dead PD was and Willie would laser range find it.
My longest confirmed shot was 644 yards.

All in all it was a great day.

Pretrip Willie Dvorak Shared his client list with us and told us to call anybody on the list.
Post trip I received inquiries from prospective hunters.

If your out in South Dakota and are looking to shoot some Prairie dogs give him a call

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.

I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).

Very interested.

Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?

I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
