Up Close & Personal In The Limpopo

Simply simply marvelous!! We'll done ol' chap

Joe,

Excellent!
Congratulations to you.
I look forward to reading your article.

Best regards,
Paul.

Went to the Gazette's website and was able to read the article online. Wonderful hunt and article! Seeing the herd come back to their fallen comrade had to be very special and a bit concerning to witness "up close." Thanks for sharing!

Well done, congrats.

Congratulations on having your article published. Looking forward to reading it when I get the latest issue.

Red Leg, that was a great hunt complemented by a good write up with photos. Thanks to 375 Ruger Fan's suggestion I went to the Magazine's website and was able to read your article. At what distance did you "offhand" the bush pig? Did you do a hunting report on AH for this hunt?

Thanks for taking the time to find and read it. It was a fun trip, and the quality of the hunt exceeded my expectations. The bush pig, with a narrow window to his back rib (quartering sharply away), was maybe sixty-feet away, and I probably had 2.3 seconds to get it off. :barefoot: Fortunately, my PH and I were pretty familiar with each other by then, and he didn't attempt to step my way with the sticks. The boar would have been long gone. The hunt report is at https://www.africahunting.com/threa...g-cape-buffalo-with-phillip-bronkhorst.44314/. You will see it forms the outline of the article.

Ugh! Sounds like a prayer meeting. I think I would refuse to listen to that - much less read it. Let's have a beer or three instead - several.

Well after several beers you could read it in a dramatic manner like George C. Scott would have and even reenact some of the more exciting scenes.

Oh, well, wishful thinking.

I enjoyed your post on your hunt and I am looking forward to reading your article. Hopefully, I can use it to inspire Princess Bride to allow me to do such a thing. See you in Dallas. Be careful driving up from the hill country.(y)

Really enjoyed the article and the hunt. Great job.

Also went back and reread the AH post. Good looking JT Ranger!

Look forward to seeing you at Dallas.

Congrats! Great story and awesome hunt it seems. I hope to experience Cape buffalo myself at some point. Until then, excellent reads like this will have to do.

For those with any interest, African Hunting Gazette just published my article "Up Close and Personal in the Limpopo" about my buffalo hunt in June with Phillip Bronkhorst Safaris.

Picked up a copy of the magazine at the airport on my way back to Zambia on Thursday evening, read through most of the magazine and your report on the plane.

As always, I enjoyed your story telling.

That is awesome. I would think being published would be a pretty good feeling. Congratulations!!

Some good insights and humour.
Nice write up Joe.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
